Current BG production estimate

Rick Conti said on his 1 hour long youtube vlog a couple of days ago he knows Vin# weeks before they are built. Wonder if our Canadian sales guys can do that?
No, I asked Eric about that. Pity really. Would be nice to know before hand.

No, I tried that very early with a guy on gmauthority who could get TPW's. Some have called the US concierge also, I believe without success. Strange how the U.S. can can get that and we can get TPW's in advance. GM works in mysterious ways ...

I have asked my dealer for the partial VIN and have not heard back. I joined the Toronto Corvette Club FB Page and there is someone there that says he has his VIN. 500 cars away from build. Not sure how he got his. I would have to ask. I shall try.

Yes, I heard they are working 10 hour shifts the rest of the week. Perhaps with the second shift employees.

I wonder if Bowling Green knows how much people from our Forum and the other Corvette Forums are microscopically watching their production progress. Going to 10 hour shifts might be a tough pill to swallow for some of the workers on the line, especially if it continues for some time. Like us, they have families and lives outside of their workplace. It's tempting to suggest "we" (a moderator from this Forum, so someone to speak on the Forum's behalf) contact them to let them know we're watching and cheering for them and appreciate their efforts since so many of us are anxiously waiting for our C8's. They'll know already that there are lots of expectant buyers who are wanting their 2020's but knowing that and actually hearing from someone are two different things. I find people are quick to criticize and few people actually thank others for their efforts and the world would be a better place with more compliments handed out for a job well done. So a big "hello" from Canada might be well received at their end.

So moderators, any thoughts on this idea?

Certainly management knows we are watching. We were getting numbers from one guy on midengine and he was told by someone that GM was not happy and he should not be giving out that info. I also know from those guys who are very close to the people at the Museum that they all know we are watching. In fact the U.S. Corvette concierge have an account on the forum. There are eyes and ears everywhere.

Fair enough, but I think it a safe bet that no one or certainly none of the Corvette Forums have ever expressed any appreciation for their efforts, like this most recent 10 hour shift with its increased output. And this message would be more for the line workers, than management. A "thank you" might also provide more incentive for them to watch quality control more closely. Just a thought.

While I haven't, the Forum owners and mods have "little birdies" whispering to them and they are always defending the workers and saying how much they love their jobs and how much they appreciate the workers. But hey, another pat on the back never hurts anyone and is always appreciated.

In fact there are too many complaints against them and they far outweigh the thanks.

I own/operate a restaurant and we work holidays, long weekends 10-16 hour shifts, Monday-Sunday. When everyone else is off enjoying their long weekends, drinking beers on patios, enjoying their cottages and camping, we are busting our butts serving food. Nobody ever, not once, has come and given us a pat on the back saying how much they appreciate us being here for them on holidays and long weekends working so they can enjoy life...

A thankless job for sure. I am flabbergasted at the things I hear your patrons complain about. No pleasing some people for sure. I lost many a job like yours for NOT showing any restraint. I guess that’s how I ended up on an assembly line myself… lol. Thanks for what you do.
To that end, I can assure you, anyone in BGA who wants to see what the outside world is thinking/saying about them… they do. They see or hear about your posts, good or bad! But don’t expect to hear back from them as the GM social media policies are strict, and as stated in a previous post, management are watching! They have made examples of employees that have divulged too much before! But in fairness to GM, or any company for that matter, they reserve the right to put the “spin” on their product, the way they see fit.

I contacted the museum about trying to order the Custom Photo Book. As I was just told about hitting 3400 status on Friday, I still did not know what that meant in terms of timing. So I was contemplating ordering the keepsake photo album. It is $700 USD and I did think that was an over the top price but hey it is a special car and I changed my mind. So I contacted the Museum last night and they got back to me this am. I am a member at the museum. (Trying to support the cause) So the rules on the book purchase are that you need to be 30 days in advance of your build date. They only will book 10 slots per TPW or two orders per day.
The service contact was able to inquire based on my order number and came back with my current order status. I was too late for the book order as it turned out. But in my conversation I did fully extend my support and admiration to the team at BGA and asked them to pass it on! I said they were doing a fantastic job under these circumstances. I think you are all correct that it would be a great idea to extend our appreciation to them. It is always nice to get praise rather than criticism.
