We were in Tucson last year visiting the military aviation museum. Incredible place.

Just as we were getting on the bus a B52 took off from the nearby military base, camera in hand and too fascinated by watching the machine climb to take a picture. It apparently was on its way to New Orleans to replace a B52 that was fire damaged. They have no way to lift a B52 in Tucson so they flew with landing gear down as there was no way to test it.

Sounds like a great show. Grant I too thank you for your service. Be careful.
Did you go to the Titan II missile museum?

Jenny, we did not go to the Titan missile site. I would like to see that as well. The commercial airliner graveyard between Phoenix and Tucson looks interesting but they will not let you in. Huge number of planes there from all over the world.

The military aircraft museum in Tucson is probably really a two day thing, there is just so much to see.

Have you been there before?

I haven't been to the aircraft museum...but the Titan II was amazing....you go in the control room and everything....they do the whole countdown and sequence of numbers...someone is chosen to turn the keys and press the button....you walk around....it's amazing...I love history.

I used to go to Tuscon once every couple of years...our family condo was down there.

And...this restaurant was great!!! Oldest family run Mexican place in the states. El Charro.

My favorite Airforce/Military Museum is in Ogden, Utah....it is free but you can leave a donation. It is right off the freeway.

As of March 1st 2018, I am working with the Marriot Hotel to block rooms with a room rate. Please wait for more information to come.
For those who have already booked at the Marriott, don't worry as you will be able to capture the best rate once it is given to me.
I have started this as the Hotel will be able to set aside a "Corvettes Only" Parking Area and much more to come ....

If you want to book NOW .... call the Marriot Hotel at 780.594.0989 and mention the Group Name "CCF" as there is an open block available for $99 per night.
I have blocked the rooms for Friday Night and Saturday Night only and you can extend the booking for a longer stay if you want. More to come though in the Corvette Zone ... Cheers

For those going to this Air Show & 65th Corvette Event,
I have arranged an open block of rooms that the Marriot Courtyard Hotel
and they have stated that a designated parking area can be provided for our Corvettes.
Pricing may be identical to what you get online and AMA membership might get you a better rate
however I created this block so that they are expecting us and will have a count of the cars for a designated parking area.

Our Group can call direct to the hotel at 780.594.0989 and ask for the name "CCF" Room Block & Pricing

Courtyard Cold Lake Route 28 & Highway 897, PO Box 536 Cold Lake, Alberta T9M 1P4

Posting this message to see if there is an
Owner with a '53 or '54 Corvette that would be
willing to attend and display at the
Cold Lake Air Show & Corvette 65th Anniversary Event

Please PM myself from this website
and/or
the event coordinator directly at
[email protected]

Thank you
Spence

LMAO  I might have a burgundy red duct tape you could use.
He’s going to park closer to the front doors,,,lol. He’s had a knee replacement and tires out pretty quick now. As well,He doesn’t want the Corvettes to be a distraction to the clean lines of his Malibu.  He hasn’t loaded up Hot Wheels Malibu’s either !! Lol.

Hello everyone:

Many of you have been waiting for an update as I was getting me feet back on the ground in Cold Lake after being on the other side of the world. We are still working on the planning and will have more to pass on in the next week.

SN-III along with one of our Cruiser's members has organized getting hotel rooms at the Marriott Hotel (Casino Dene) for a nightly rate of $99.00. I was out there today (10 March) and met with the receptionist who was aware of the Corvettes coming and had brought up Spence's name as the one who requested/negotiated this. Hotel has a pool, hot tub, fitness room, pool tables, licenced eating area next to the front reception, computers with printer at front entrance, meeting rooms, and some unique First Nations art throughout the hotel including works of art from local artist and Order of Canada recipient Alex Janvier (www.alexjanvier.com). I got a look at one of the King rooms and posted some photos here for you. The sofa pictured is also a hide-a-bed. I also took photos of the parking lot to get a good idea of where the Corvette's would best be parked (thinking the west side parking lot to start with). The Marriott is the newest hotel built in the Cold Lake area, having been built in the last couple years. Website is Courtyard Cold Lake (Courtyard Cold Lake)

Spence is organizing the Cold Lake Corvette Convoy (Cavalcade or Caravan are other synonyms for Convoy that we can use for an official name for this) from Edmonton leaving early Friday morning in order to get everyone here by early afternoon. This Corvette Convoy / Cavalcade will also be a charity run. We will decide what the charity-of-choice will be shortly (we have a good idea what it will be but will meet with some key people first before making it public).

For the photo shoot with one or more jets, we are going to do that on Friday evening once the Air Show practice is over. The deputy Chair of the Air Show committee has put forward to the air boss requesting the 1) F-22 Raptor Stealth Fighter, 2) CF-18 Hornet demo (60th Anniversary NORAD paint scheme), and 3) F-35 Lightning II Stealth Fighter. Even if we don't get these aircraft there will be many others on static display. Keep in mind that the photos will have to take place outside of Air Show hours and we felt Friday evening works best as most will be arriving at that time and some will be parking in the hangar for the weekend during this time frame. Speaking of parking in the hangar, I've had some inquiries about this and the cars that will be parking in there are going to be the ones staying parked for the weekend. A limited number of Corvettes - mostly the vintage ones - will be displayed in the centre of the car display, with other vehicles parked towards the hangar walls (left and right of the Corvettes). If you are driving your car up you will most likely be parked outside on the ramp as you'll be driving it off the airfield after the general public leaves Saturday and Sunday evenings. Keep in mind that the vehicle display is not just for the Corvettes as we have local classic cars here from the Cold Lake Cruisers and a couple of others coming in from outside of Cold Lake, including a '69 General Lee and '77 Plymouth Hazzard County Police Car that will be featured at the bottom of the poster along with some Cold Lake Cruiser's cars when we get it developed.

We will have a free draw for 4x 1/10th scale radio controlled Corvettes - 2x red and 2x green C7 Stingray Coupe's made by New Bright. We will draw for 1x of each coloured car both days at the end of show hours. There will also be a People's Choice award at the end of the show on Sunday.

Remember you will have to fill out the registration form in order to be approved and gain access to the hangar line. I'll attach a copy of the form on a separate post, but you can also email me at [email protected] and I'll send you a pdf copy.

More to follow in the coming weeks and month as we work on a meet and greet, Saturday night event, and a Sunday night survivor social. I'll also be working on a Corvette historical display and a Corvette Collectibles / die cast car display that will be inside the hangar. Any photos and historical info you might have will be appreciated. Please send to [email protected] if you'd like to share for this display.

Cheers,
