Mid-engine?
You are correct this plane was a General Motors product which did not perform as well as design expectations dictated. Some of the data is confusing. The article states that two V-1720 in line engines were coupled together into a V-3420-23 engine. How many pistons that is is another question. Now my experience with GM nomenclature said that a "V" engine had a V block and was not inline. Anyway who cares since they only built 14 of these babies - according to the data that rhc7gc6 suggested - but it beat Zora, by about 30 years in that it was mid engine.
