Can't let this go by without my cameo sit -in...... When my bro-in-law said climb in and I'll get a picture, who was I to refuse...lol...
To add onto your Sabre picture above... both Korean war vintages..
Still no idea where the above picture was taken. The plane apparently is a Lockheed F94 Starfire.
Might not necessarily be as brave as you first thought. I don't see any guns in that turret and the outfits don't seem to be military. This is possibly a post WW2 shot taken somewhere out West in the USA.
Vintage you may be correct but I still think the bravery is fair comment. Found out at little more about this plane. According to what I found it is a B24 Liberator probably built at Ford's Willow Run Plant.
Yes, a B24. IMHO a somewhat underappreciated aircraft when mentioned against the glamorous B17. The B24s were more prolific and carried bigger bomb loads at a slightly higher speed.
