Cat back install

Did your Borla come with NPP and AFM management like stock cat back?
It did yes. Although NPP is an option (with Borla) so just make sure you order the right set with or without NPP depending on your OEM setup

NPP cannot be added later , just so you know. Factory installed only.

Yeah, I made sure that my set up stayed the same because I have a Z51 with NPP/AFM. That is why I bought the 21100 instead of the 21300 at a cost of more than 1500$ extra+ TAXES :Ack2: . I like the fact we can adjust the sound from inside. I really wanted more HPs,18 and torque,16 as for sound only 9 decibels more. Cannot wait to install and go to the track, Napierville. I was hoping for a SC but too much diff in money, so will be satisfied with this , for now.

I got my 2M cats awaiting to be installed. I am happy they came with the heat blanket. Will see how they hold up with time.

I've had my 2M Cats and Headers on for 4 years April, close to 70,000km. No heat shields, no blankies, no issues...

I have had my rear end off no less than 10 times (for various mods) One of those being installing the Borla S-Type cat back ..

Fire away, happy to answer any questions you might have.

I did not use a lift, FYI. I didn't find it too bad. Just take your time.
Just to let you know , I received my cat back yesterday, so I might have a few questions when I decide to install. Right now it is way too cold and I have a major cold/flu.:Arghh: Thank you in advance.

Bring it to a shop to let them do it?
Just drop off mine's to the dealership earlier today. Anxiously await how she will sound.
I'd used the $
difference over the Borla system for body pieces.
I would have bought the MBRP/CDN system if I had known about the tariff sooner.

You are having it installed?

Word(s) of caution.

I took mine to the local dealership, they put it on for the amazing low price of $800 ... :Banghead:

On the way home I got to thinking "This is the WORST $7500 I have ever spent. This thing sounds like absolute A$$. Like embarrassing ..."

After some research & sending sounds clips to Borla, they determined that I had an exhaust leak (A bad one).

Turns out the dealership did not replace the 2 gaskets (MAKE SURE TO DO THIS NO MATTER WHO INSTALLS IT), and they also in addition didnt put it on very tight, to torque specs. How do I know this, I ended up taking the entire thing off myself. No way I was going back to the dealership. So checking the torques, they did not use a torque wrench as the studs were ALL off. There was also a cracked gasket that they reused.

When I confronted the dealer with all my findings (and there were some other head scratching things they did) .. they stated that it was the first exhaust the tech had done on a C8 .... OBVIOUSLY !!!! While I dont mind people learning ... Geesuz .. and NO, I did not get a cent back form this experience.

Once I removed it, replaced the gaskets, re-installed it and all to torque specs ... It now sounds like a Symphony of V8 sounds that makes me droool everytime I start the car.

Moral of the story, BE CAREFUL. Ask the dealer (or shop) how many they have done .... While it is not rocket science, it is finicky and MUST be done methodically to seat the gaskets just right. Tourque ABSOLUTELY matters. Do some reading and you will find that it is common to have to take your time to get it all just right,. Little room for error unlike installing a Thrush on a 84 Mustang.
