Canadian vin availability?

I will be driving ours 4 seasons of the year. Very occasionally mid winter, but whenever the roads are clear the rest of the year. Since we are now down to 2 cars I prefer to keep he insurance on it all year just in case we need it.

I didn't mean to hijack this thread, because in about a week my vert should hopefully go 3400 and I want to be able to get my VIN so I'm hoping the Canuks can see it down below and far far far right.

What are the exact steps Murray, I will send them to my sales guy at WN when I hit 3400.
"Tell him to do an order inquiry manually and there will be a vin incentive lookup link..... way, way, way, way to the right. "
This will only return a vin at 3400. No earlier.
At 3800 it's on the cars main page, I think, which is likely why dealers assume it can't be found until the car is built.

Thanks Murray, I haven't talked to my sales guy since March. I'm hoping to hit 3400 at 3 weeks seeing my TPW is Aug 3. Is this correct?

I'm wondering if we have the same salesperson at WN? ... or if I need to update my guy there as well. I would be very interested to know my VIN at the appropriate time as well.

Thank you Murray for being so OCD on this issue :) . All great information!

I think the vin is assigned internally at 3300 and you stay at 3300 for so little time that FAIAP 3400 is used. I think that the 3rd week out is when they start assigning vins, so it might be between 2 and 3 weeks. Either way 3400 and vins appear at the same time. You can ask at 3 weeks, but it might be closer to 2. I've seen both. At 3 I'll ask the CC what status code I'm at. If 3400 I'll seek out my vin. If not, and my TPW hasn't changed again, I'll wait a week and ask again.

Same goes for my sales guy. If it was their car you know they'd be all over WorkBench and figure it out. It's a combination of don't care, not motivated enough and just lazy.

Good and bad news from GM Concierge this morning. The good news is my TPW is holding at July 27th. That's only 3 weeks out! The bad news is it is still at 3000 status... so... no VIN. I have a feeling my TPW may change again though because it was assigned back when they thought the 2nd shift would be starting today.

Thanks for the info. I won't bother checking then since I'm also at July 27th.
The second shift was only rumored to start today. More official (but still not) was that it would start on the 13th. ABC has heard the 27th so who knows? GM knows. They know where all the parts are. They wouldn't have said the 13th unless they knew what parts were available. Some sort of part failure (etc.) is likely the only thing that would change that. I think it more likely that assigned them without the 2nd shift starting. They always have 3 weeks of parts on hand. You and I will likely move to 3400 sometime this week.

Thank you Murray for the VIN lookup info. as it eventually worked for me as per the instructions. I went to the top at Finch Chev. to get it done. Jordin Finch said it was new to him and got it for me - #4790 - today - it may already be living and breathing in Bowling Green.

You might actually get it built on Friday. I forgot to post my guesstimates. I'll do that shortly

Might be one of the last cars built on Friday
