Wow what a treat. I can't wait to park the cars side by side in their new home! Plus I won't have to be going for 5 or 6 months before i can look at them like before!

Three neighbours combining but dad thinks our fields are still too wet. But the canola is testing 12% which is a surprise................

Now I'm going to have a drink...............

Congratulation Garry, this has been a long haul for you.

Best of luck getting it all done.

Wow congrats! We want to see the cool new digs too!.....is there an MLS link? 2 days before the crap weather again we were pulling wheat off at around 17%. The next day was 15...so we went to town and got it all off. The canola was around 9...the plan was get at it in the morning that the rain showed up...grrrr. Both combines and four trucks were great for no downtime this year but mother nature had other plans....what the heck do we need...4 combines and 8 trucks? Lol...so frustrating.

Hey Eric! You can definitely use that line waaaaaaaaay back in the thread. However, I want to use your "as professional as pocket lint" line then.
My apologies for being so sporadic on the forum lately. Hopefully I'll pick up on it more and happy birthday Garry!!!!! 47 for the 5th time! Woo!
The realtor sure does sound like he could be doing a little more. When we were buying our house, our realtor was on the phone 3 times a day.
Hey Riley... No problem my friend... you can use my pocket lint any time you like...lol

And I'm playing catch up Garry to wish you Happy Birthday....

Thanks everyone. It is a nice feeling to have this house purchase completed. I hope that they delay will not be too long to get possession. As such I have not loaded the Z06 onto the trailer yet as I may be able to drive it there under its own power! And I'll try to get some pictures too

I have been feeling in a bit of a funk for a while and I am hoping that new surroundings will help me to get myself feeling better about things.

As for the combining, who knows. There is still 5 or 6 days or 8 or so above highs so things could happen yet in that area too.

It must have been hard to be ready to combine and to have it rain. What a slap in the head.

Straightened out three feeder house slats, changed a part of the clean grain cross auger pan that had badly corroded and unplugged the unloading auger on one combine. Need to change part of the clean grain cross auger pan on another combine, perhaps tomorrow. We'll be ready if the fields get trafficable. People straight cutting canola but the swaths still have pockets of snow on them. My canola is mostly swathed too........... But hope springs eternal!!

Met a neighbour leaving his canola field, started at 15% and finished at 12%.

Wheat in the 17 to 15% range would be sweet. How does it look for grade? People here were down to feed at the end of September and I doubt the stuff coming off now would make that............

Cheers,

Garry

So house inspection done yesterday. No major new issues revealed.

Stuff sent off to lawyer. Hopeful possession date 21st. I hope it will not be delayed.

Neighbours have taken off standing canola but mine is all swathed other than 30 ac in one field that looks like a lake right now................hard to get heat to the underside of the swath, it penetrates the canopy of the standing canola so much better. Tough lesson to learn but also most unusual harvesting conditions too.

Forecast is for temperature to start to drop, only highs of 5 to 6 now. Not much hope but still OK with things as they are as I did try my best and that is all I can ever ask of myself.

My son's birthday today as well, 12 years old. We arrive in town 15 minutes early to go for a 1 mile walk together which also happens to go past the new house so yesterday as we were going by I stopped and told him that the offer had been accepted and this would be our new house here. He was totally excited and I feel this same way. I told him that as we would not be driving any longer, our morning walks will be getting longer to use up the time - no lazying about in bed!

I will post pictures when I move the cars there. Funny but with the Z06 one of the things I am most looking forward to with moving is giving the rims a proper cleaning and not having them covered by gravel road dust immediately when I take it for a drive........................

Cheers,

Garry

So it showered yesterday, things are done for the year harvest-wise. A pity the canola was swathed, it just never got below soggy under the swath.........

My gf and I went out to prep the Z06 just now. Drained the last of the methanol, ran a few ml of summer windshield washer fluid in to protect the seals.

I had pulled the trailer away from the trees and into the sun to dry the deck to prepare it. Put the trailer perpendicular to the driveway to take advantage of the crown in the driveway. Turned out that dad was over in the garage this morning sorting bolts and when he hear the Z06 start he came out. Given dad's hearing that says something!

Anyway the two of them guided guided me on the the car is loaded and ready for the trip to Fairview, snow be damned now! I have to strap it down but not just today yet.

Sort of makes me nervous with the car on the trailer hooked to the truck, shades of Arun you know................almost thinking about parking the red truck in front of it so they'd have to move it first.

And relishing that this is the last time in 6 plus years I'll have to do this before (during!) winter.

Cheers,

Garry

I agree Garry. I would be nervous too. Don't know what it's like up there but I sure would not be leaving my Vette on a trailer anywhere near Red Deer.... Or at least not without some damn good barricades around it.....

Rained hard here yesterday for about two hours... Shut everything down for now... this may be it. Especially for the cereals that are still out there...Forecast is turning a bit more towards normal for this time of year.... Canola may still have a chance after it freeze dries... if it's not froze to the ground.... Damn... a nasty year all around.... great yields though if you can get them dried and in the bins...

After Arun lost his car there was never anything else posted about it that I recall. Don't think there was a happy ending with that one.

Keep an eye on yours Garry.

This made me park my other truck at the front of the truck and trailer ("crossing the T"). The truck can't go back as it is close to a large tree so I hope it will be safe. God it sucks to have to be worried about something like this...........moving day doesn't come soon enough.

I'm pretty sure there was nothing about Arun's car being found ever either. Shocking that it could just disappear like that. But then again apparently there is a huge overseas market for vehicles like this and apparently it is not too difficult to load a seacan and to have it put aboard a ship.

So I meet with the lawyer late afternoon today. Money in hand, proof of insurance and I should be get the keys on Monday!!

We're all so excited!!!!!

So everything looks to be in place but for some reason not the insurance. And of course they called at 1:15 and I missed the call until this morning so I can't find out what the issue is until Monday, when I was scheduled to get possession!

Always one last glitch.

Cheers,

Garry

I'm thinking it might have to do with the wood burning stove in the basement in the bar. Does it have a CSA sticker? Couldn't tell ya. Did I have it inspected yet? Uh, no, I did not buy the house at that point! Will I get it done? Yes, but I need to be able to buy the house first before I can have the keys!

So while I think this is the sticking point I won't know until Monday. Would have been so much nicer had they left a message with the issue.........

So we bought a new bed and sectional today, got some paint for my hobby room/office walls and yes brace yourself it is yellow!

Garry, I think what you need to get (once you get possession of course) is what is called a WETT Certificate (Wood Energy Technology Transfer). Essentially a WETT certified stove/chimney sweep inspects the stove and chimney for proper clearances and operation. They will also check whether the stove is a certified unit. There are older stoves that do not meet current standards and thus most insurance companies will not insure the house without it. CSA as far as I know does not certify wood stoves. It is best to get it done for your safety if nothing else. If a wood stove does not have the proper certification label it cannot be retrofitted to acceptance.

Good luck you will get it sorted out.
