Calgary Snow….

19! !8! You lucky people! We saw 8 yesterday, 9 the day before but probably are still so happy for it - hope!

Ya, it figures. I turned 52 yesterday, the bank calls to say they made a mistake too. Sort of bummed me out. Not the present I could of used.

But I did get the Frontier back finally, engine swap done. Mom and dad are up north on an engineering job so won't be back until maybe this afternoon - I parked the truck at the farm so she'll see it when she gets home. She'll be pretty happy. Odd the 4x4 light is on and the selector switch doesn't seem to work either - rats! But mobility restored at least. I had loaner her one of my pickups but a quad cab 4x4 truck is a lot bigger than she likes and harder for a "mature" woman like herself to get in and out of.......!

And no house updates to date either to pass on.

Cheers,

Garry

Happy birthday Garry. Woke up to 12 here this morning. Has dried a lot here. Hoping all the farmers can get some more crop off.

Thanks everyone!

Actually probably the best present I got was when I was getting my son on Friday at school. I have a good relationship with most of his classmates and one of them always asks me how I am (after years of asking him this when we'd meet) and I told him that I was happy as it was my 52nd birthday. One of the girls in his class a bit down the hallway said to another girl "gee I thought he was only like 47"! I sure liked hearing that and even a few days later it is bringing a huge smile to me. Dad's birthday is tomorrow but we're going to celebrate them both today. I baked the cake last night and my gf is going to ice it this morning.

No harvesting around the area that I am aware of yet. Forecast still hanging in there with good weather for the upcoming six days though. The yard is still a mudbog so the fields look to be about in the same state. I find this odd after 3 good days that there isn't a lot of signs of it getting dry. Lots of mini-lakes in the fields that did get combined so you can imagine the condition of the ones with grain still on them.

Not in the combining side of things I think I will remove the canvas's from the three swathers and park them north of the shed for the season now too. I had not been expecting to use them again but never got around to this job before the weather turned bad.

Nothing new on the house yet either. Maybe today?? No new postings for a few days yet either.

Cheers,

Garry

Not a terrible day today here.Little cooler and a couple of drizzles. Was nice enough weekend to get the leaves picked up finally though. Brenda spread them in the garden and roto tilled them in. Quinn helped her of course....lol.... Suppose to be nicer again tomorrow.... woohooo.... every day now shortens the winter by a day....

Wow, the beasties are getting big. Great looking dogs.

Laughed Eric because in Haliburton Brenda would be dressed for a formal.:D

Your dogs are just hilarious! I needed that this morning.

Parked the swathers at the north end of the yard yesterday afternoon. Noticed that a neighbour had two combines out in a standing field of canola on my way home but they were stationary but still that brings optimism.

Four or five days now and the yard still has not shown any signs of drying so I can't imagine things are that good in the fields. Canola swaths still have pockets of snow on them, the winds forecast never materialized.

I hope to finally put the Z06 on the tilt trailer today or tomorrow which is due to be plus 12 or 13. Either to subsequently put it in the seacan or to, dare I hope, put it in the garage of a new house! I may have to take some air out of the trailer tires to get a better angle, the deck angle is still steep enough that traction can be an issue when I am backing up it.

Is that you driving that combine Tim? Wowser....Good stuff....Betting it's an automatic too though.... lol.... Happy farming my friend....
Yeah it was all hands on deck...lasted for a whopping 2 days even though I haven't been feeling good......mother nature really sucks this year. Poured here all yesterday. As for the auto?...the faster silver paint more than makes up for any false powertrain deficiency you can dream up bahahaha!

Yeah... It rained enough here to shut the combines down but it's surprising on the drive in this morning how much canola got picked up on Saturday.... Here's hoping for some more good weather....
As for me dreaming up powertrain deficiencies, I would never think of doing that. Far be it for me to look down upon an automatic transmission that way. Some people just prefer automatics... and I have one in the garage too.... Brenda's SUV is an automatic.

hahaha.... Murray. That's formal dress where I live too. Brenda comments often on my closet full of hunting camo and dress camo... Yup... I have dress camo for special occasions. Weddings, graduations, etc. Lol

Broke down and emailed the agent last night as it was going on 5 days since I made the offer. He replied within the hour saying "I think you are getting real close, he was going to talk to his wife on the weekend, he is thinking he might take the offer."

So I'm not sure what this means. Why it takes 5 days to get a reply and why he hasn't been able to talk with his wife any sooner as they paint houses together for a living. So maybe final news today.

Went to Grande Prairie, no combines running anywhere. Saw a field of swathed barley that had sprouted really badly.

Supposed to be +14 today, I think this will be the day to put the Z06 on the trailer................

I have to agree with Bruce on this one Garry. If the realtor, after you emailed him, relayed to you within the hour last night that "the owner was going to talk to his wife on the weekend", then the realtor knew that Friday and should have been relaying that to you out of common courtesy, if nothing else. The guy sounds about as professional as pocket lint. Just sayin'.

Good luck on some decent weather to get your car stored. Was 16 here at 6:00 am this morning.... woohoooo....

Hey Eric! You can definitely use that line waaaaaaaaay back in the thread. However, I want to use your "as professional as pocket lint" line then.
My apologies for being so sporadic on the forum lately. Hopefully I'll pick up on it more and happy birthday Garry!!!!! 47 for the 5th time! Woo!
The realtor sure does sound like he could be doing a little more. When we were buying our house, our realtor was on the phone 3 times a day.
