Dave, drag racing IMHO is a participant sport. While it is not unusual to have thousands of spectators in attendance. NHRA National and Regional events are well attended but pics like this showing few folks watching is not unusual. The real action at these events is typically in the pits with family and friends surrounding the cars. It is a big deal to them. :thumbs:

Especially in the 70's when the population was a lot smaller! ;)

Reminds me of the old Sackville Drag City track in NS. Wasn't in operation for very long due to poor attendance but we use to go there on weekends after it was abandoned and have informal races with whoever showed up until they gated it off from access.

Whoa Black. I wasn't trying to denigrate drag racing. It just seemed to me that attendance looked light and I found that a bit humorous. Apologies if I scratched a nerve.
 
Dave not an issue for me. I got your point but drag racing can be unique in some aspects. We are good. :thumbs:
 
Push bar. Could double for wheelie bar with the addition of well a wheel.
