Hey! You are making fun of that great 6.70-15 bias ply tire which has to go in conjunction with the grab bar for the passenger. Definitely great for those low G corners.
After finding that applying the brakes during an emergency stop resulted in a multitude of shattered noses and broken teeth, GM discontinued the passenger assist bar. Much to the disappointment of dentists and plastic surgeons I might add.

Another example of safety last. It only took until the early 60's to get seatbelts and they were not mandatory until 1976.

New Hampshire is the only state with no law requiring adults to wear seat belts in a vehicle. In 15 of the 50 states, non-use of seat belts is considered a secondary offense, which means that a police officer cannot stop and ticket a driver for the sole offense of not wearing a seat belt.

The United States doesn't seem to mandate how people should look after themselves like we are accustomed to here.

I think they care more about the individual's rights to their body, I hesitate to say rights but I can't think of another word, rather than how the individual affects their loved ones and others.
Like when a motorcycle rider doesn't wear a helmet, he's thinking only of himself and not others that might care if he smacks his head.
If that makes sense.

Personal freedom of choice?
On may last 'getaway' I found it very strange seeing bikers (and passengers) not wearing helmets.
With an average of every person in the States owning more than 1 firearm, I'm not about to openly question their decisions.

We digress - yes, very interesting rear tire on the funny car - almost hopping off the rim.
