Attempt Theft Of C8 Vid.

Maybe some of you have seen this? In Grimsby.
Very interesting. I wonder what the extra security measures were if they had the fob . They had to climb out of the window so obviously couldn’t open the door. Very strange. Lucky owner. Hopefully they tell their slimy friends and they won’t try another Vette.

Ya . There is a huge selection. As often the case, too many choices. I would go for one with a high current rating . Not easy to quickly bypass if the scum bags even clued in that it was installed. They are all very reasonably priced it seems . You just want to make sure that the one you get has CSA or UI or similar certification.
I'd prefer one not so obvious also.

You want a kill switch for the ignition, not the battery. Every time you kill the battery you lose the basic settings of your car.
That’s a valid point. There had been some discussion about this previously but nobody seemed to know how long it takes for the system to “ reboot “ after power is restored and the system connects to the servers. Do you happen to know ? Ignition interruption would be preferable but a lot easier to install a battery disconnect for the average Joe/Jane/They .

No idea but imagine having to setup your custom settings and seats and all that over and over. It’s like paying for extras you can’t use.

When spending $100-$150K CAD on a new vette, spend the $2K and just get a good theft system put in like the ghost system where you have to program buttons on the vehicle to your desire to start/stop the car and it comes with an App to kill the car remotely too.

Sure but you likely won’t get that done for $75.00 . You would think that every GM car obviously has a unique ID , so the server should easily be able to restore your settings automatically when you reconnect to the system. I just re- installed Amazon Music on a new PC the other day and bingo in less than a minute all of my saved songs, podcasts and playlists popped right up. Surely GM should be capable of doing the same but to be honest I have no idea. Worth looking into. Would not be that difficult to find out yourself by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to see what happens.

Just dug this up . A few different options.
