Thought this photo might stir some memories for the Toronto area folks. I think this picture was probably taken in the early 1950's (resident truck experts may know the year of the highway tractor) of the rail yards in downtown Toronto. That is the Royal York Hotel in the background which is right across the street from Toronto's Union Station. Lots of cars in this pic but I cannot see one locomotive. It may have been possible that steam locomotives were still being used at this time.

it’s not an ‘old’ picture but ..
This was the Martinsville NASCAR race a couple of years ago.
I have to wonder how a BCRail locomotive makes it all the way to Virginia.

BC Rail was essentially shut down and sold to CN back in 2003 so I suppose some of the rolling stock was sold on as well. And whatever rail line that was in Virginia must have bought the locomotive.

that BCRail story was a bad deal here.... a political move that is still getting kick-backs to the Government.

i would have thought the loco would have been painted over by now...or at least got to by the ‘taggers’....!

I follow a number of rail cams and the BC Rail Locos are occasionally still seen running around on a number of lines.

Great pic Graham, that is a Norfolk Southern Loco attached to the BC Rail unit.
