Tx tripod. Im not sure if its dedication or insanity!! But, either way. We're getting there! The diff was an unexpected pain in the ass, but ill track something down.
Been a quiet day or 2 while i wait for parts to arrive. My new flexplate arrived yesterday and tomorrow should be anpther few pieces coming in to help get things moving again! More pics soon!!

Bro - depending on your budget and what type of power you want to run through the rear differential, there are options out there. Sometimes I wish mine blew up so I have a reason the change the gear ratio 
There's a lot of stock replacement options there and maybe that works for you.

Budget has been taking a hit! Lol the carrier is really the big issue. Gears and pinions are everywhere. Its finding a replacement carrier that seems to be the problem!

It's the Canadian Vendor but I don't know any history on these units. Also - I bet if we stick our feelers out someone would have a used one in good shape?

Im all about feelers now! The crate engine and custom built 700r4 ate up a huge chunk pf my budget! Lol the case is good. All the bearings are good. Even the seals were good. Just the carrier and a broken clutch plate.
Just cant put all this work in to the build, just to put a semi repaired carrier back in!

3.55. This puppy was stock front to back. Numbers matching all original, right down to the air filter, all neglected to the point of no return! Lol

Back at it! Anyone ever put a 75 frame into a 79? I know that a mod to the fuel tank cross member is required, but does anyone know whT that mod is? Lol

Big day! New hd offest trailing arms, hubs, brakes, stainless e brake hardware, stainless brake lines, stainless shim kit, adjustable strut rods and new pivot bolts and a whole bunch more!
Dental floss, tied to the brake shoe pin, fed through all the parts worked nicely for a very tricky install. Tied up above to keep tension on it, freed up my hands to install the springs using 2 dental picks. Took 2 minutes per hub! The spring tool is great, but this was so much better!
Anti sieze coated everything and heavy greased. No corrosion coming on this one!
For initial alignment, i set everything to center in the pocket, shimmed evenly and ill build from there. The alignment later on will solve any issues.
Vansteel products, thus far have been outstanding for fit and quality. Not to mention, their customer support is super fast and very helpful. I highly reccomend!
My build so far has been supplied by Western Corvette put of Calgary, Corvette Depot in ontario and Vansteel.
Next up is the front hubs and a pile parts to clean and paint!

You mentioned a AIM, I have a printed 1978 AIM for sale
also a low km 105,000km 3:55 diff for sale, in Ontario though. Have a bunch of small parts (and big parts as well). Hit me up if you need something, I just might have it.

Dodo, how is your diff's internal pieces?
Still rolling along, albeit a smidge slower for the last few weeks. Renos tend to eat up money and time from project corvettes!
On to cleaning and painting parts to keep the assembly line fed. Still looking for a few key parts, but ill just keep moving along until i find them!

Diffs internals are fine. I kept it as a “bolt in and go” spare diff. Zero issues I’m aware of. Might be worthwhile to swap the axel stub bearings and seals just because it’s easy to swap and it’s not in the car. Me, personally, I’d run it as is (with an oil change).
