Today was a decent day of progress! Slowed by the need for penetrating fluid work, since things are a little uncooperative!

But, im back at it, and hope to have things seperated soon so i can send the frame for blasting.

Almost time to tackle the body mounts. Ive been drowning them in penetrating fluid for 2 months, but i really do not have faith in them to come out without brute force!

Back at it tomorrow!!

Another day of progress. Heater/AC housing and hardware is out! Moving along nicely with all this quarantine thing!!!

At this pace i may need to reconfigure the garage soon to accomodate the body off of the frame!

Another jump toward seperation. Brake booster, trans module and emissions gear are out of the way. Another round of penetrating fluid on the body mounts. Likely going to tackle those tomorrow. If all goes well. Ill seperate and dolly the body tomorrow and get things moving along. This c19 thing may stall things a bit though when it comes to suppliers.

On that. What should i keep if i am likely installing the gen 4 vintage air surefit system?

Ready to lift! But i need straps. All i have are the hook style and with those, the doors would suffer hard! Going for them in the am

The rolling dolly is but and waiting, engine crane is in place and everything is ready! After weeks of work and a very sporty last 3 days working on those body mount bolts, ill be lifting tomorrow morning!

I had to get creative with the tools, since i am working one, so the vicegrips and breaker bar combo was cooked up as a second set of hands to hold nuts in place while running the impact.

The dolly is designed to roll over the frame since my garage is not veey big.

The 2 rear mounts were completely fried. So cutting the heads off was the only move, angle grinder and a cutting disc sorted them out quick.

On the passengee side, both of the "hidden in horrible places" bolts needed to be cut. I sorted these is a dremel and heavy cutting discs. I reccomend the the bigger ones that gone on the EZ attachment, since the little red ones burn fast! But it will get the job done.

I found a hold in the frame at the passengee traiIling arm and slot where the rail and upswing meet. Pics later once i lift the body.

Busy few days!

Big day. Seperation completed! Frame is toast( see pics).

For those not wanting to fork out $80 or more for the sling, I picked up two straps from Canadiant Tire that worked very well. I pulled the doors off, since I didn't want to risk the hooks hacking up the doors. Lift went smoothly

The cradle i built was just 2 x 6, simple construction, since it wont be moving and hopefully wont be up there too long.

Shopping for a frame now!!! Project continues!!

@Ghostryder, sorry to see the dreaded C3 frame rot. You may wish to remove the interior panels to do a complete examination of the birdcage at this point. Generally when the frame is this bad, the birdcage is not much better. Sorry to say, but if thats the case you may want to find another car with better bones. Very hard to find in Canada, that's why I hunted down and bought my 70' in Arkansas.

The back should be good, the front has 2 cargo straps to the t top and its own frame under it now.
Got a bit side tracked with the rotted out frame!!

Sounds good
I know when I was doing mine I was told to worry about sag. The other concern is when you hold by ttops or windshield are you can actually cause it to bend as well. Just saying easier to make sure it or support where body mounts usually go then fix something that may not need fixing. I actually had to get a new hood because it warped from not sitting properly and sometimes things take longer then we think. Love the progress and work you are doing. Thanks for sharing the progress

Turbo, the birdcage is actually really good. Pulled up carpet, looked inside pillars, everything I can see without stripping the firewall off. So far, the cage seems good. The whole frame is pretty solid, other than the usual end frame rail rot. I know they can be repaired, but im looking at both repair and a replacement frame. Im too deep now for wasting time! Lol

Glad to hear that the birdcage is in good condition. This is a much harder repair than replacing the frame. Best wishes on your restoration journey, whichever path you take. Thanks for sharing.

Replacement frame, gas tank, spindles and a few smaller pieces arrived today. Started looking at whats next parts wise and finding stuff here in Canada is a pain in the ass.

Does anyone know where in say, the edmontkn area a guy can get trailing arm hardware rebuilt and transfered to new arms. Shipping is a killer on these things due to weight!!

Frame is off to the blaster as soon as i can get it in, then i can start the building phase of this project!
