2025 Corvette SUV Will Be Built on Alpha Platform

that’s my point (actually you are confirming both my points), the Cadillac brand is the luxury upscale cushy ride choice, and even with an Escalade V @ $180k+tx, in Platinum Sport trim, it will still remain a big luxury boxy truck. Same can be said for their sedans. However offer something sporty and peppy and even guys like you will be eying it, and not having to settle for what the other brand of GM is offering.

I feel those people looking (craving) for something more Sport in an SUV (or sedan) have moved on to other brands (the pics above).

I think the dead horse we are beating here is that it will really depend on each person, where they are in life, what they want out of the vehicle, and how they plan to use it.

I for one appreciate a ton of cargo space (think 3rd row folded), but I want something very sporty, and I find the the likes of X5M, RSQ8, Range Sport, Escalade, is trying to take a luxury vehicle and add more power and aero to it to make it try to look and feel more sporty, with a big price tag.

I think there will be a market and need for a vehicle like this, I just wish they could get the front end a bit lower (hood rake) but that would require a frunk or smaller motor up front, and we all know big room is needed for the 6.2L.

Going to be a long wait for getting that thing but at least it allows folks like myself to pay down the C8 and enjoy it until the next upgrade comes along
So you want a boxy vehicle for the large cargo room, but a very swooped vehicle for the sport look. Does such a vehicle even exist without entering the forth dimension? A super raked hood with a large cargo space….. didn’t GM already experiment with another strange looking vehicle, something named after a central/south American ancient peoples?
I’m just joking, but …If you find something like you describe that looks good, then I’m in!

Cadillac is for the limo drivers and semi and fully retired guys to comfort their sore bums, my brother-in-law just bought an XT4, I rest my case.

This is for the sports car guys who want something more sporty for the off season. Cadillac does not scream sport, Corvette does, loudly !!
20201202_095056.jpgForgot an obvious one, this GLS 580 V8 twin turbo really kicks butt. Hauls a lot of stuff and tows 3500KG with gusto! Hey why not an AMG GLS63?

that is a good point, to be honest with you, when I think of a sport SUV, in my case, Mercedes is not the first that comes to mind. The brand screams luxury cars and SUV's, however AMG keeps the sport side alive with the brand no doubt. It’s like Cadillac trying to stuff a supercharged 6.2L vette engine into a boxy heavy Escalade, does it make it more sporty ? Opinions may vary. So I feel same goes for the AMG line. Is the GLS in the same category as the others for a sporty SUV, I guess in AMG trim maybe, overall however (incl external shape and interior) opinion may vary. Either way, you’re likely right and will add the truck to the list and add a photo of it too.

The pair of Corvette SUVs will be spectacular competitors in the performance sport category. Corvette as a brand is long overdue and there is no way in hell that the Corvette line up will be anything but special and in high demand. Think of a CT4 and CT5 Blackwing built as an SUV with beautiful design lines. GM already has the underpinnings in the Cadillacs. I predict the Corvette SUVs will be beautiful, well appointed and highly desirable.

Completely agree, with long wait lists at the dealer (perhaps not as long as the C8 wait lists). Where I am struggling and where my wife is trying to reason with me, is the cargo carrying space of what that vette SUV will likely offer (or not offer). Right now we can easily load up our 96.8 cu.ft of cargo space in the VW Atlas, and I had to drop some decent coin on coilovers (3.5" drop) and 22" Asanti rims to make it look sporty out of a long rectangular boxy truck. Same can be said for an Escalade I guess. Our game plan was to drop down in size to a Lincoln Aviator, which has a similar concept to the Atlas (3-row, captain chairs), but only 77.7 cu ft of space, while still looking somewhat elegant (think black label + big rims + black roof white body Range style) and offering luxury to boot. It would work, but a lot tighter.

Now imagine if we had to drop down even further to an XT5 type platform which offers "only" 63 cu.ft of cargo, that is even smaller !! I don't need Escalade cargo room (although I could definitely appreciate using it from time to time), but am just not used to your typical 2-row bench type SUV's. Will the racy look of a corvette SUV and powerful engine and awesome exhaust note force me to live without the extra cargo room, to pack much lighter for trips (we travel heavy), just for the sake of having a pair of "corvette's" in the driveway, I guess it will depend on how gorgeous the final model will look. And my guess is it will look hot as hell !!

I had one of these (AMG GLS 63) for a few years.
Very nice to drive.
Fast enough, for sure.
Lovely rumble to it.
This is, however, their SUV - it stands alone.
It's not a 'version' of their sports cars.

I still can't see the need for a Corvette SUV.

The only need is that GM sees a market where it can make some money. Will be interesting to see who on here ends up with both a C8 Stingray AND and a C8 SUV.
Not me!
If I wanted an SUV it would be a Bolt or some other battery version. NOBODY needs a Corvette SUV except .... You can figure it out

Whoever is craving a gas guzzling 6.2L or 5.5L v8 sports car instead of an electric sedan, I guess those would be the people wanting this vette SUV, and from what I see on this forum and many other similar ones like it, I am pretty sure they are not going to have any trouble selling what should be the last of the gas guzzling high performance SUVs, prior to going hybrid or full electric in the coming years. Pretty sure they will move to hybrid with that platform right after launch, just like they are doing with the vette once the full electric version is out. Got another year or so to see how it all plays out.

If someone has a C8 corvette there is no need for a sport SUV as Sporty SUVs are compromised on ride/ comfort, towing and utility. My other vehicle is a 2020 BMW X5 being the sportiest in its class so when it comes time to upgrade I will be looking at a full size Range Rover to prioritize comfort.

I'm through with this thread. People wanting a Corvette SUV are plain nuts. Please don't quote this.

Bro stay away from the range rover unless leasing... They are trash after the warranty period... My 2018 Range rover sport td6 is under 100k km but this thing every month has a new issue. Now I think my shocks are starting to go, and it stupid expensive to replace those. Last month I started having issue with my range where the alarm randomly started going off, sometimes during day, sometimes at night. Spent 1400$ to replace some stupid sensor. I personally think the Escalade is a much better buy than the full size range.

I want to be first in line 😀. I currently drive a XT5 but to have 2 Vettes in the garage would be great.

In the car nut realm, identify me as cashews please. Macadamia would be for Cayenne fans. Every Bolt needs a nut to be complete. Murray, grab a handful and get back to this thread, we need a dissenting voice for balance and fun.

yes I have been warned. Are you the original owner and had the car from new?

Previous Gen range rovers and a new Range Rover are not the same, as a C7 vs C8 corvettes are not the same vehicles. I have heard horror stories about BMWs especially from 3rd owners who bought them on Kijiji. My X5 has been perfect for 3.5 years/ 45K KM so far.

I've been the first owner of the car, another stupid thing is the damn thing costs $1200 for oil/filter changes, I take to my private mechanic now who charges $500 but the dealer tried scaring me once saying that if I dont service from them then they are not liable to honour the warranty because others are not certified to work on the range rovers.

wow, I might have to hold off until Niagara gets a Land Rover dealership so not to have to drive to Oakville for service.

Could the Vette SUV have some design cues from Lotus ?? Keep in mind that some people previously and currently cross shopped the Emira, although not on the same level of performance as the C8. Yes one can throw in the Ferrari SUV as well, but for now, I leave you with this video of the Eletre. If you fast forward thru the video, you will see the rear seating, that is cool, a 2+2 layout instead of a boring bench. I can only hope the Vette SUV follows a similar offering for 2nd row....

Not sure why folks are against the Corvette SUV. It’s going to sell more than the Corvette itself, and GM can use the money for niche products like what Porsche is doing. Win-win all around. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it!
Just like some who didn't approve of the change from round tail lights to the current model several years ago.
If it cuts in to "Corvette" production then that is really a NO-NO
Personally like my C7 rear lights over the round ones but am not enthused about the C8 or electric version nor the SUV version if it comes out.
Mind you, I wouldn't refuse a gift of a C8 either.
