2025 Corvette SUV Will Be Built on Alpha Platform

No one is going to equate nor cross shop a Porsche SUV with anything GM currently has. GM sees the dollars with Porsche SUVs being more popular any of their cars other than the 911. So it makes sense for a Corvette branded SUV to be an alternative. Not saying I will ever buy one though- but probably everyone said that about Porsche when they first said they were building an SUV. Heck, even Ferrari has one now!

And Lambo has the Urus….

Me like, me like a LOT !!! I already have a unique SUV ride, a VW Atlas dropped on coilovers and rolling on 22's, I crave for the sport truck look with tons of cargo room to boot. Been trying to convince myself to go the Range Rover Sport route, but concerned about quality (Velar too small for me). Not into the BMW look/scene (had a 4 series and reliability was a disaster), Mercedes not sporty enough, Alfa too small, Jag not bad, sportiest of the bunch but again a tad too small. Not a fan of the Porsche look and even if I was, on the pricey side. Escalade and Navigator, too boxy. Loving the Aviator a lot, but it's more luxury than sport. I am picky as hell !!

While this machine has the looks, my only concern would be size. I crave a sporty looking SUV but with a 3rd row not for passengers but to have a huge deep trunk. Odds are that will take away from the sporty look if it came with a rd row.

Either way, I can see myself with 2 Vette's in the driveway, the C8 and this SUV.

Sweet !!

It is entirely as exciting and unique looking as a Toyota Highlander.
You sir need some very strong glasses, and a telescope attached to those.... you really think that the image in the article (and below) even comes close to that ultra sporty vette SUV. Not even by a mile, that Highlander looks like a grocery-getter family-hauler weekend-sports kid hauler. I would not consider that sporty at all, typical SUV look, not saying it's ugly here.
.
Now below that image, those I could say are sporty and approaching the vette SUV territory,

Jag F-Pace
Porsche Cayenne GTS (not the base one that looks too blah)
BMW X5 M (more boxy than the other 2 above but more sporty that your family hauler)
Range Rover Velar
Audi RSQ8
Mercedes GLS 580

Don't walk, run to book that much needed optometrist appointment :)

And btw, I too would have loved to see a Urus looking shape, but that would be a completely useless truck for a family, not able to haul much. When we travel, whether it be by air, cruise, or land, we travel heavy, with 3 fully loaded 31"+ oversized suitcases, plus another 3 small carry-on suitcases. Or a beach trip with chairs and coolers and such. They barely fit inside a Ford Expedition or Lincoln Aviator (the two vehicles we most recently traveled in while abroad), fits fine in our current Atlas (98" long).

If you look at the shape of the trunk of the others I posted, they slope off very quickly to give it a more aggressive sport look, but at the cost of not having much of a trunk. So I think GM went the right way here, by sloping the rear of the roof downwards (think Aviator, F-Pace, Velar), but still carrying the roof long enough to allow for some sort of decent size trunk back there.

Like I said, me like !!

Yup, and Alpha Romeo has one, Maserati has 2. Corvette is late to the game!
Those cars are Manufacturers. GM HAS the Cadillac as their premium platform. They need to market it against the Porsche which I know is owned by VW, but it acts as a separate organisation AS does the above.
THIS is a waste of resources and could send them down the road they once trod into bankruptcy.

Agreed here Murray, however I seriously doubt someone will be cross shopping a Vette SUV with an Escalade, two very different vehicles with 2 very different purposes and needs.
I see the Porsche and Vette thing quite similar, with parent companies above them. In fact same goes for the Mustang. I think the Vette has a huge following and reputation, and GM must have taken a step back and wondered what could happen if they could generate hype and long wait lists for a very sporty SUV and Sedan too.

And just like Porsche, you can just imagine all of the variations of each model of SUV and Sedan, I can see them copying Porsche to come out with a Mecan plus Cayman size SUV, and then who knows on the Sedan side. Again, doubt someone would cross shop a more sporty/aggressive CT4/5 against a Sedan trying to be a C8 with extra doors and a trunk.

I guess only time will tell, but if Ford thinks it can work for their Mustang brand, and it certainly works for Porsche, then might as well try and see what happens. It would also (hopefully) force each dealer to have something on the showroom floor to identify with the brand, and not mixed in with all the rest.

Taxpayer Funded Bailout Documents I would think have already been prepared. Identify as "clue" and "less".

That's my point! Make the performance Cadillac SUV instead of a Corvette SUV. They have the engine, they have the racing pedigree (IMSA). Corvette is sold by GM. Porsche is not sold by VW. It's not marketed by VW and it's not built by VW. The same applies for all the other models you mentioned. Corvette is not a car line it's part of Chevrolet. They already have SUV's They also have SUV's in Buick, Cadillac, GMC etc. it's a specialty market. GM already has enough models already. Adding another is simply stupid!

Why bother?
It's not like GM doesn't have really nice SUV's already, in a wide variety of sizes.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
GM does not have really nice SUVs already. Escalade is good but not really good or best. Best SUVs right now are BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and the Full size Range Rover.

I don’t know…. I have a 2007 Toyota 4Runner that could beat the pants off of all of the SUVs you mentioned if you focus on the utility aspect! (But beyond last place for Sport)

I no longer want, or need, anything as big as an Escalade or Range Rover.
I just recently, and admittedly, with much scepticism, switched my SUV from a Mercedes Benz 450 to a Cadillac XT5 Sport.
The price difference was $60,000.00.
I may be missing a few (unused) toys on the new one, but so far, I have absolutely no complaints.

I'm with Murray on this.
Leave the Corvettes alone - juice up the Caddy as much as you like.
