Announcement 2021 C8 allocations now being released to dealers

The Corvette Assembly Plant will be closed for another week according to those in the know we spoke with this afternoon. This news comes despite the earlier notice this week that the plant would reopen on February 8th. The plant is now rescheduled to open up on February 15th.

Our friends at the Corvette Action Centerreceived a message from Chevy regarding next week’s closure:

Due to a temporary parts supply issue, we can confirm that Bowling Green Assembly will not run production the week of February 8. Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production, and we expect the plant to resume normal operations on Monday, February 15.

This week’s shutdown was related to shortages with the Corvette’s aluminum structures and transmissions. Next week’s shutdown could be part of the global shortage of semiconductor chips that has been in the news lately. GM announced earlier this week that four facilities would be shutting down due to the chip shortage, but Bowling Green Assembly wasn’t one of the plants listed at the time.

Remember a couple months ago Chet dude said Canadians wouldn’t get winter builds because we can drive them now anyway. Maybe that’s what Chevy is doing, we can only hope in a couple months allocations will get back to normal. Whatever that is anymore
Chevrolet also said that shipments of C8's to Canadian dealers would continue throughout the winter

As one of the people on the Bill Spencer 2021 wait list hoping to see a car this summer the lack of allocations in January and February, compared to 18 cars allocated to Spencer in the November/December cycles is discouraging. The idea that Canadian builds may be slower during the winter months is a ray of hope, but appears to be pretty much wishful thinking at this stage, rather than fact.

Question for Andrew Spencer - can Spencer see if it is possible to get a definitive answer from GM to the question of why Canadian builds have slowed substantially? It would likely be best if this question came from one of the Canadian dealer committees on behalf of all Canadian dealers, rather than just an inquiry from one dealer.

Good luck with that. GM is not forth coming with there comunication to their dealers.

Cullen said that they get consensus for 3 month like USA dealers with allocations monthly. So it’s possible that Spencer knows knows how much they will get for next 3 months but keeping that info private.

This is another reason that the used C8 market is still hot, buying a new C8 from many dealers is a real test of patience. So many lies and deceit has left a bad taste for many first time Corvette buyers.
Might be true for some dealers, but from my experience not at Spencers. Andrew Spencer has been very honest and open with information on his C8 orders. If there is lack of information, the problem is likely at GM Corporate and not at Spencers!

I agree. My 11 month experience dealing with Sean at Spencer's was nothing short of perfect. Always answered my questions. Always up front, never evaded my questions. Always dealt with facts. Answers were always quick to come. In fact encouraged me to contact him if I had questions. I also dealt with Julian regarding purchasing extended warranty and he was also excellent. He even went out of his way to video the unloading of my car and the unwrapping of it. I can't say enough good things about this dealership.

Naturally we are disappointed with the # of allocations we have received thus far. We want to see all of you driving C8’s as badly as we want to sell them.

GM sold 2.5million vehicles in 2020. While we all wish Canada would earn more C8 allocation in the winter, I’d imagine GM has a lot on the go right now. GM dealers are hungry for inventory across all product lines. With the ongoing pandemic and supply chain issues maintaining global production must prove incredibly difficult. Let’s just hope the plant gets back and running following week 2 of closure so those of you that don’t have cars, can get cars.

I do not doubt Canada will earn its fair share of allocation. I’m not familiar with the consensus process in the US, but our dealership does not get it quarterly.

Deliveries probably will continue but won’t be much to deliver with very few allocations

I agree. My dealings with Andrew Spencer have always been straightforward and honest.

Duh ! You missed the point about allocations for Canada that GM USA thinks all C8`s would have to be equipped with snowshoes and shovels (and price increase) since it snows in winter up here. So all goes to USA down south of us.
Wait till spring time and see allocations will increase for us. You can expect deliveries for late fall.
Like Joey Bates, my HTC allocation was in Feb2020 and I got my C8 17 Oct20 !

My friend in Florida has had a C8 ordered at a big Corvette dealership in SW Florida about the same time I ordered mine from Spencers. My car came in at Spencers end of December 2020. My friend still hasn’t gotten a build date yet and is being told it could be July before he gets his car. The reason is that the dealership, who normally sells about 200 vettes a year is not getting the allocations it was projecting so orders and deliveries are falling behind just like we are now seeing in Canada. So my point is it’s not just a Canadian problem.

From what I have heard and read seems to me Spencer's is the best dealer to buy a C8 from
