BCMI INNS Hinton 17808655099. $149 plus tax a night just booked and if we change our mind ok too

Later Jeff

Maybe we would change your mind..... haha

I will wait and see what Paul says. if you guys are only going as far as Hinton for the first day then maybe I will decide if I should leave Sunday am and do a day trip. As you probably won't be in the mountains till Sunday 10 or 11 am so kinda more like a day trip, then a 2 day trip.

I see Paul you posted head west of Rocky and then decide which way to go at Sask crossing.

I thought we would be at Sask crossing by maybe1pm area and that would mean a afternoon in the mountains and then next day too. I liked that

  1. Assemble in Red Deer @ a location to be named
  2. Travel to Rocky Mountain House at Timmies and have more people join us.
  3. Travel west and a few stops planned for photos, visiting, etc.
  4. Arrive @ Saskatchewan Crossing for late lunch @ the Parkway Pub.
  5. Travel back or head north to Jasper or south towards Lake Louise.
If we travel back it a one day affair. If we go north or south it will be a two day affair with a night over in either Jasper/Edson or Banff, Canmore.

I just called Sask crossing..... they have 6 double queen rooms left and a few bigger rooms. It takes a min of 8 rooms to get a price break. $173 is the cheapest room. $193 with taxes

The pub is not open till 5pm to see if they would have the UFC fight on.

Done the glacier tour a few times but never really done anything in Jasper. What about the gondola etc?

Yes, gondola, Pryamid lake just north of Jasper is nice to see and a nice short drive, the skywalk not seen and been a long time since been to Columbia Icefields... it there still ice left or has global warming taken it ;) Miett Hot Springs too, I have never been there I think. Might still be Mustang ( horseback ) rides near Jasper. Probably more.

talked to the bar. he said they have never bought it in the bar before. He said some staff have their own satellite and do buy it to watch in their own cabins.

He said he is not sure what the cost would be and if the satellite they have there would have tavern fees or personal fees/costs for a private person.

He said if we do decide to stay there to talk to a Carson at The Crossing and see if he could make something work.

See what Paul says.

I asked if they had high speed internet as I have a slingbox that I can send my home satellite to anywhere I am but takes lots of bandwidth

Well, see what Paul says...... it is his cruise ( but he was the one that did say it was heading west of Rocky to Sask crossing ) ... LOL

Hi Everyone. Had to be offline for a bit sorry. I opened the plan and then based on accomodation, UFC and distances put the route together to travel west of Rocky then turn north ending up in Hinton. the Sunchild Road is a scenic drive an popular with the bike crowd. We can turn this around pretty quickly. The big things here are:
1. cruising
2. mountains
so based on this Lets' just go to Saskatchewan crossing Saturday and possibly head a bit south coming back to Saskatchewan crossing. Brian since you have talked to the Crossing can you let then know we are planning it? Everyone use the cruise name of 2016 Corvette Cruise when booking. I tried to update the map from my phone and messed it up.

Verdict is we head to sask crossing and stay over. Everyone book your room!

you guys and girls will have a great cruise. Wish we could have made it.... next time... :(

OK, cool.

the lady said the best way to book was to do it online...

The Crossing Resort | Icefields Parkway Resort l Canadian Rockies

SO BOOK YOUR OWN ROOM ONLINE I GUESS

If we get 8 rooms booked then maybe we can barter for a free meal or something. how many do we have now? roll call

Looks like

Rocky PM and Jo
Myself
Jeff and his better half ;)
Bearflying - Don
Tinman?
Jerimaid

I will probably be going myself if anyone wants to share a room. PM me.

Guessing we might get 4-6 rooms

If we get more then maybe we can talk them into doing UFC for us.

The guy I talked today at the bar seems to know when I said a group of Corvette people that have come there for food and drinks.

Book your room soon maybe.... they said there was 6 reg rooms left and some of the other types...... they are $10-20 more.

If

Sask crossing has no premium fuel last I was there. Only regular fyi

Ya, you have to fill at Rocky Mountain House.

If we head to Lake Louise there is a Husky there that I think has 94

OK,,,, just called that Husky,. guy said he has 94 fuel

Paul said in a recent post do stuff around sask crossing

The icefields, the glacier walk, Lake Louise and Morraine lake would be 4 things near to do.. parking sucks at Morraine but maybe they would let the corvettes park along the edge near lake and porta potties for an hour or two if a park worker was there when we arrive... if we head there.

now, if we do Morraine lake it would be better to get there by 10 am Sunday... parking is better before 10 or 11 am... the view is amazing.....

We could maybe have lunch Sat at Sask crossing, maybe do the icefields and the walk Sat afternoon and Sunday am maybe head to Morriane lake first and then Lake Louise and then gas up.

Now, if you fill at Rocky Mountain house you should still have 3/4 of a tank when we get to Sask crossing.... the icefields is 50 km away and then LL is 50-80 away the other way...

Booking now..... will have an extra bed if someone needs it... Don?

Adding in the remarks..... part of the Corvette group......

Damn, cancellation sucks...... guess no backing out. LOL

The skywalk sounds awesome. So I'm confused....are we going to Jasper?

not sure... Paul will probably do some thinking now on what to do.

Another idea could be to do Lake Louise Saturday afternoon and take another group shot at Bow Lake again and then Sunday am head to the icefields and walk and then maybe on to Jasper.

Google Maps

this is close to Sask crossing. never seen it

Google Maps

Never been to Peyto Lake before....... lots to do around Sask Crossing.

Now to decide if I should bring the ZR1 or the SUV haha

No drones allowed in the park so no point bringing that.....

ok, I've updated the map. please go the following link. Based on the votes i still have it planned to go to Jasper on sunday morning.

July 9/10 Cruise

once you have google map open, click the three bars in the upper left. This opens the list of key locations.
Now is you click on the three dots to the right of the July 9/10 cruise that is right above the list of location. Choose Step-by-step-directions. This will show you the distances abd times between points. Disregard the first few as the map decided to route me through a subdivision in Red Deer. Sheesh!

The way I see it the times will be:
- 1 hour to Rocky Mountain House
- 1/2 hour, coffee, meet additional members, fuel and leave.
- 1 hour to Nordegg
- 1/2 yo 3/4 hour for stops.
- 1 hour to Saskatchewan Crossing

Total time 4.5 hours. If we leave at 8:30 this gets us to the Crossing at 1:00 pm. We have lunch then head south for a cruise and sight seeing. Make it back to the crossing for supper and hopefully UFC.

Next morning breakfast and we leave for the Columbia Icefields Discovery Center. Based on the vote this is the rute I've planned. If a group wants to break away and head south that works too.

- 1 hour, Columbia Icefields Discovery Center. This is the location to take the bus up to the Glacier Walkway. (There is no parking at the walkway)
- 2 hours spent here.
- 1 1/2 hours to Jasper
- looking for things to do in Jasper. One idea is to hit the SkyTram and go to the top of the mountain. Spend some time in Japser and probably do lunch if everyone wants to.
- 1 hour to Hinton. Fuel
- 1 hour to Edson.
- 1 hour to Jct Hwy 16 and Hwy 753
This is th elocation that people can choos to trael east to Edmonton or continue south.
- 1 hour to Lodgepole. This is a beautiful road and quiet. The first section is straight
- 1 hour 22 minutes to Rocky Mountain House. We turn off towards the Brazeau Dam the curves and hills begin. It brings us back to Hwy 11, west of Rocky Mountain House.
- Once in Rocky we can travel on Hwy 11 or Hwy 12 east to get back to central Alberta.

This is the Plan and we will play it by ear once we are on the road.

Looks awesome

Pyramid Lake is 5 min away from Jasper

Google Maps

Mountain Park Lodges Offer a Variety of Jasper National Park Hotels and Resorts

Horseback riding

Home - Jasper Park Riding Stables on Pyramid Lake Road

Yes, there is the Tram

I think we might only be able to do the odd thing in Jasper as hard to say how much time but these are idea's

Things to Do Jasper | Things to See | Attractions | Tourism Jasper

Brian

The bar will be open Saturday afternoon, we can ask then ( when we have lunch ) who might be watching UFC. They had mentioned that maybe we could watch it in the cabin that might have it on. Meaning some staff members of The Crossing.

Sounds good Brian Jeremaid said he was bringing his andriod box as long as we have intenet. For rooms it's 10 bucks
