I just found this thread as well! Looks like some fantastic work! That is a great job on the LS. I really like the exhaust manifold choice as well. It looks like a really good package, and nice to hear about someone enjoying the wiring side of projects.....now I know who to call when I start LS swapping my vehicles. :D

I stopped by a guys house on Friday, that I met at the local Show and Shine that has a 66 C10 and a LS swapped Square Body. Found out that because my truck was a 292cid the mounts were different than any other 60’s truck, and would not work for a LS Swap or any other V8, also that a mid 80’s transmission cross member will fit and work with my 4l60e. Went on kijiji Saturday and met a guy that had mounts off a 65 C10. He also had Dirty Dingo LS adjustable brackets that work, and the ones I had would not work. Found a mid 80’s truck on kijiji again on Saturday, that I went out to take the cross member out of. He knew my Dad back in the 70’s and helped me out getting the cross member. Can’t wait to drop this Chevrolet Orange 5.3L in tomorrow with a guy that volunteered to help, that has Turbo LS swapped Mustang that I sold a oil pan to off kijiji 🤣 The car community is great 👍

Well it’s in there! I had to take out the old transmission cross member, it was a fight because it was riveted on and hard to get at it with any tools. The exhaust manifolds hit the frame, going to modify the mounts to clear or order headers. The abc valve cover hits the passenger side firewall, might move the engine ahead 1/2 “.

So I decided to build my own crossmember! The 80’s C10 crossmember I didn’t like the way it fit, and the trans sat to low. The factory one was a no go as well. I have the engine sitting about 1/2” tilted back, which is close to GM factory specs. Driveshaft u-joints calculations give me 6.5 degrees (should be ok) Now I can push the truck around, not having a jack under supporting the transmission 👍 gives more room to work on this project 😁

So the harness is built 😁! I removed all the unnecessary wires from the ECM, and had to shorten half the wires and lengthen the other half to mount the ECM behind the glovebox. I ordered a fuse/relay box off Amazon, but not happy with it. Need a new one to finish off the electrical for the fuel pump relay and TCC brake switch relay. I highly recommend LT1Swap.Com for information on de-pinning the ECM and what wires are needed for the OBD 2, cruise control, relays, etc.

So impressive to see this work being done. I would not know where to start. What a treat for us to be able to follow along.

Excellent!

Kinda a cool old dash!😎 I like the KM stickers on the MPH dash. Not sure when they were installed, but probably could buy them at gas stations during the metric conversion years sometime in the 70’s...? Trying to figure out if I should keep it...? I was going to build my own digital speedometer & gauges out of a old iPhone or tablet mounted behind the bezel. Fixing a few problems with the 66 original wiring, I don’t know how this thing didn’t catch fire......

Reproduction inner fenders on reproduction rad support onto 1980’s reproduction fiberglass fenders..... having some alignment issues getting this front end fully bolted together 🤪. Had to drill out the spot welds on the rad support bracket and re-weld, take out 1/8”-1/4” off the edge that goes against the firewall. I also and ended up having to cut out a portion of the inner fender, I noticed a pin hole that turned out to be sheet metal that was so thin . Always brings me back to my childhood of growing up in a Auto Body Shop, the smell of body filler and primer 👍. I big Shout-Out to my neighbors, for not calling the Cops on me again for my late working hours between 11:00pm-1:00am 👍👍

Lots of fun Dalen... Amazing the amount of work how a tiny 1/4 inch or so can cause when multiple things are trying to fit. Yup...You got good neighbours, better keep them happy... Amazing how far a thanks and a case of beer once in a while goes. I remember living in town when I was young and having parties in my fourplex... Always made sure to invite the three neigbours...lol...
