Your favorite driving tunes

Anybody drive listening to the Blues of Roy Buchanan? The guy was a talent with the guitar, even Hendrix said he was indeed the best.

awwwwww.... Murray.... did you stumble on my earlier post today in this thread on SRV.... you're pulling at my heartstrings again.... Roy was another true talent that not only lived but died the blues at a very young age.. famous for his work on the Tele... reputed as the man who invented the pedal sound before pedals were invented.... thanks for tweaking my memory

Eric, until a year ago I had never heard of Roy Buchanan. We were in an antique store in Tucson and there was a (this one's for Graham!) a record playing that immediately caught my attention. It was Roy's "Second Album", someone had just bought it for $2.00 and want to make sure it had no scratches. I ended up getting that Album and others on iTunes but keep looking for it on vinyl. Watched his You Tube videos and the guy really had a talent. No electronics just the Tele as you say, he mastered it.

Watched PBS last night with the Joe Bonamasa concert from Red Rock, Colorado. Two things I would really like to see, Joe and Red Rock. Incredible.

hehe.... Murray.... I could talk blues masters with you all winter long.... There are so many amazing talents out there that have really earned the right and do justice to the blues.... Joe does a great tribute to Gary Moore as well... another late Les Paul master... I get the feeling that you are familiar but just in case, this is one of my favorite tunes... Gary Moore's Parisienne walkways ..... sends shivers ....

Given the time in our lives when most of us here finally have the capability to enjoy a Corvette and can set our priorities accordingly, I think this song will say a lot for each of us in our own individual ways. Perhaps a moment to reflect on where we started, where we are now, and enjoying the ride while we can. Hope you agree.

This sticky was feeling some neglect lately, so thanks to a chat Murray :):) and I had last night, I just have to share what is arguably one of the best guitar virtuosos in the world (with Black 03 and I being the other two), Tommy Emmanuel performing Arthur Smith's "Guitar Boogie".... Crank it up and Enjoy......
Eric

Oh... and that comment about Murray and I as the other two virtuosos.... that was a joke......................there are more than two.... :Smug::Smuggrin::Smug::Smuggrin:

Man, Eric that was a great Friday morning pickup. I looked at the video and I think, Tommy and me, like identical twins. I have a very similar guitar strap and ……. well that is about it.:D

First heard Tommy's music in a shop in Sydney, Australia and was instantly hooked. Incredible player from the land down under.

...oh my I could fill a 100 pages with tunes. I love my rock 'n roll , but am at the point now I only play it in the shop and in the house, just can't hardly stand noise driving anymore. Listening to the pipes now is good enough, and my 38 barks so loud from the 4x 2 1/2 " pipes you can't hear the radio anyway, But cruising back then I played alot of Credence ClearWater......Ramble Tamble I played a million times on 8 track driving, Roller by April Wine , Eighteen by Alice Cooper , Uriah Heep, Cream , Lynyrd Skynyrd , Green Onions by Booker T, Secret Agent Man by Johnny Rivers, Highway Star by Deep Purple, Gimme Shelter by Grand Funk Railroad, oh the list goes on and on. Some newer stuff I like are these all girl bands. Go on you tube and check out Zepparella doing When the Levee Breaks.....they are unreal. Another hot chick band is The Donna's , latest albums Gold Metal , Bitchin I can play over and over. And can't forget On The Road Again by Canned Heat . Still have my first 8 track I ever bought, a K-Tell Greatest Hits, have over a 1000 8 tracks I think !!

When I was a an early teenager I belonged to some club that I cannot remember the name of. You would buy x amount of 8 tracks and then they would give you x amount for free. I had tapes piled in my room knee deep using a car stereo hooked to an inverter and big house speakers. Mom said nothing but dad had the occasional choice word for me.

Great Tune Bill. Don't even want to comment what the speedo says when the harp player comes in.....

We were all members of Columbia House at some point. I can still remember browsing through the catalogue trying to figure what I wanted versus what I could afford
