Tiago , brought his 2011 Viper ACR to me to fix . He had heard about our reputation with the Corvette community and thought that we could do the same for him :coolgleam:
A little ticking coming from under the valve cover .
All fixed now :D

Always fun to work on something different .

Look for some future work photos that we will be doing on this machine.

Sweet Machine! Very nice! Glad to hear about your reputation crossing the vehicle maker gap. I can't wait to hear about your next project of putting a blower on one of those monsters.:D

What was the ticking Manny?

LOL, I wouldn't kick an ACR out of bed as the saying goes but make mine a ZR1 modified to the same level as the ACR.
Why? one simple reason: a V8 engine. -- nothing but nothing sounds as nice, and yes that is very important to me.

:agree: It's hard to beat the sound of a V8.

That is still a freaking awesome machine there!

Absolutely true, Riley........Not to give any wrong impression of the ACR's status.

Indeed the ACR is one of the fastest/quickest cars on the planet and a very accomplished one at that on tracks like the Nurburgring .

Undoubtedly on most enthusiast's wish list, even mine......but given a choice I'd take a recent ZR-1 . The C7 will probably go with a much smaller (V8?) engine and I suspect not be near as brutal.

Not bad at all (for a Chrysler) :p I keeeeed, I keeeeed.

So after you fixed it, did you get to test drive it? or even get a ride??????? --details, details

Ya no ride afterwards . Turned out to be a bad spark plug wire .

I had the fun of tangling with 3 vipers on a track day recently and can offer this...

Between NON professional drivers and my somewhat modest mods that I had done, I embarrassed the 2 vipers that were NOT ACRs. Both were accomplished lappers behind the wheel as the supervising instructor pointed out later (LOL)... had spare tires/trailers, wore driving shoes.

I entered on to the front straight directly behind the ACR viper at around 75km/h and up to 190 it was DEAD even. I let off sooner cause I had no desire to have an accident at the first corner.

So the rest comes down to sound and looks....

In my OPINION... vipers sound horrible. Much like a UPS delivery truck. On the other hand they do have a certain rock star mystique and look pretty cool.

Given the choice I'd take a C6 Z06 plus a spare one for the track for that price!!!

It is said the C7 will have at least the Z06's power available. and I think we can be quite sure it will be a V8

I concur, the Viper is awesome, but it looks like it has a park bench for a spoiler, like the pocket rockets.
Also, it seems to me that to really enjoy the ACR Viper you must be thinking track rather than driving on the street.
In Saskatoon, the owner of AutoClearing Chrysler is also the owner of the local track. He is an actual racing pilot and competes regularly. Ask him about his ACR Viper.... I personally saw the aftermath in his body shop. He put it against the railing trying to merge onto the freeway...he lost the rear end and could not control it.

All I am saying is, I dont think the ACR Viper is meant for the average Joe if your main focus is to enjoy it outside the track.

I've heard that RW. A V8 would be a good guess IMHO. What transpires remains to be seen.

I'm sure it'll be a great ride and one which many will seek after, including myself, but I'm of the old school believing in the old adage: "There's no replacement for displacement" --; there isn't now, there wasn't then (in the '50's, 60's, and 70's) and there probably won't be in the future either.

I'll be very surprised if it's as brutal as the Z06 or ZR-1 is now. Very surprised.

But then I really love surprises. :D ( now if only my pocketbook could keep pace:rolleyes:)

My money is on a 5.5L with 505 HP and RWD. :D for the Grand Sport!

About the price, my guess is also a similar price tag...but lets see (said a blind man!)

No not without a lot of experience and respect.
I've not even explored the limits of my GS yet and it has considerably less power than the Z06, ZR-1 or the ACR.

Not that I'm complaining -- I gave it a boot the other day on a long straight after turning a corner in first gear -- man did that sucker get up and go! -- I can well see why it's rated to go from 0-60 in under 4 seconds stock -- that's quicker than the IS-F I had and quicker than anything else I've had that I can remember going way back.

A stock Viper (new) would be in the under 3 second range, and the ACR even quicker I'm sure, and with no 'nannies' to save ones butt in any of the OEM cars, I've read.
That would take some very discriminating 'pedaling' even for a pro.

It must be a real treat watching a good driver manage a Viper well. Apparently not an easy task.
From what I've read, our 'vettes are much more forgiving and some of them just as quick.

it must be! :agree: I actually saw a show with Paul Tracy dirving the Viper, even he had a challenge doing so.

I have a C3 so I have never really experienced the responsiveness of a C6 or a C5 for that matter! maybe Riley will let me try his C5 once he replaces the knock sensors :D

I too saw Tracy try to manage the Viper -- probably the same show -- and yes he failed badly and I suspect most would fail without a heck of lot of practice.

LOL, no worries; your C3 is no slouch and quite a capable driver being only a tick or two behind the latest versions.
A few mods would quickly make up the difference.

LOL, if Riley is anything like me he'd probably rather 'show' than 'let', but you'll have to talk to him about that.:driving:
