I have THE manual!not sure what manual you have, but it's pretty clear in mine....2023 Corvette...
Cali cars usually have a different emissions package. Does the Cali Corvette? As I pointed out in Post #2, the C8 originally required PON93 or higher. Unfortunately California has a limit on octane rating of 91 so that let out a huge market. So GM changed the fuel requirement for 2023. The change is likely just software (fuel mapping) so no need to change anything in the actual engine. I don't think it was an OTA so if you are pre-2023 I would stick with PON93
According to the screenshot from Butsy above gasoline with an octane rating of 87 can be used, unless knocking occurs.Since we are discussing what is in the manual (and no one seems to be able to read my posts that explain the octane requirement), here is what GM says in the 2020,21,22 manual regarding PON 91:
"If unavailable, unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 91 may be used, but with reduced performance and fuel economy."
So yes the "computer" will correct for a lower than specified octane fuel, however the "reduced performance and fuel economy" may negate any saving.
However: "If the octane is less than 91, the engine could be damaged and the repairs would not be covered by the vehicle". I wonder if the fuel mapping history is stored.

Oops, I missed the year!My mistake, I thought we were discussing C8 Corvette. That screenshot is from a 2019 manual correct? So WTF are you talking about or just providing inaccurate information?
