" So power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. ".... A statement penned in the 1800's for an Anglican bishop Richard. Not at all surprising how it has survived through the years and fits so well with the leaders today.

Unfortunately it only makes the public feel good voting for a party representative that we mistakenly think will support the views of his constituency. Voting the party line is demanded and the repercussions for refusing have turned even the originally well meaning reps into mere minions of the party leader.

I totally agree with you and besides those comments would add: he is in favor of a protected border, law and order, the capitalist system , the constitution (glad his choice for the supreme court is done), a strong military and is trying to reign in China which, IMHO, is the biggest threat to international stability. I'll quit there - there are many more reasons.

Stepping into the bs, er i mean conversation. It is sad how democracy is defined by money. Both in Canada and the US the media drives how people think and act. Lemmings. What has struck me is the tone of how a message can be delivered. DJT has the delivery of Jason on Halloween. Pence during the vice presidential debate made several statements about policy delivered in a polished, clean and defined way that sounded very good to me. The Red side has good ideas and is progressive but has to work with the Blues to cover all voters. Their leader is not a leader. He's a bully and provocateur who looks to gain votes by appealing to the underside of society on a public level. IMHO this isn't healthy for society. Growing up I was taught to respect people and listen to all sides and work to balance. Not everyone will be happy but respect a decision made on facts. This has been lost over the past 4 years. Name calling and attacking people is not good for teaching our young people how to act towards our fellow man.
On the other side it is sad that the Blues could not come up with a candidate with a bit more life expectancy. I do not like to socialist side but do know to be balanced we need to have a blend of social programs to assist the unfortunate when required. That is what is missing here is the knowledge of the electorate and leaders that it is never black or white, red or blue but somewhere in between, varying in shades based on the issue.

I fear for the outcome if the Red comes out on top because of how the past 4 years have evolved and how society has denigrated. I also fear if the Blue wins the social side grows too strong. Between the two I think that the Blue would have a bit more affinity to "talk and listen" than the Red side would.

It's going to be a new world on November 4 and Let's all hope that some kind of balance can be gained.

My personal opinion is that this should had been in the thread below.
Not too bright having several threads on basically the same topic.
Nik was kind enough to let us voice our opinions on US politics in that thread.
My hope is that our opinions do not sow dissent among our own CCF members. There is enough of that south of the border
