Want to order a factory C8, how long of a wait

Just an update: I reached out to Craig at Capital. The deposit of $2,500 to get on the waitlist caught me a bit off-guard but it is refundable. I just wish they had some sort of contract that I could sign saying the same. I will get a receipt and perhaps request the dealership to send an email saying they have accepted the $2,500 deposit which is refundable. Any other tips or trick you recommend to make sure it is protected?
$2500 deposit is standard practice, nothing to worry about. Now that they have your deposit, what number are you on the list?

I was looking to buy new and still have deposit down but ended up purchasing a used one with 90% of the options I wanted. Wanting Z51 and Mag ride I would be passed over now anyways, too many restraints right now. Will have it home in April.

Capital has been very good and Graig is great to deal with. He has kept me informed as to when the order when in, the week it was to be built and then an email stating "Guess what just arrived". They were one of 4 dealers I called to be on their list, but have not heard from the others. Don't worry about the refundable deposit as it means your on the list. I lucked out with my order.
How long was your journey?

I ordered it in November at number 51. two weeks later I get a call as GM gave the dealer 4 non Z51 cars to build. I did some research, thinking, phoned a friend and then yes. If I waited for a Z I would not get one until much later this year and another price hike. I don't track the car, but maybe for bragging rites a Z51. I got to order everything I wanted and the waiting time was 1/5 of most builds.
Yes a non Z is 3.0 - 0-100
Z51 is 2.9 - 0-100
Looks like I may loose the race, but I got the car.

most folks do not need a z51 but like to brag as if it is a different model

my 2016 base car was perfect and rode the best

I was very happy with the purchase and did not hang my head after a few months as I was proud of the purchase

They are only slower on paper. Speaking from experience

Hey all, I just visited the largest GM dealership in Calgary to factory order a C8 and was told the wait time is 3-4 years in total. Is that really the case? For those in the market right now, what’s your experience been?
Some great advice on this site. Just keep asking questions as you go through the process. Your initial inclination to go to a large Chevy store is certainly logical. However, Corvettes are in very short supply so GM has devised a system to allocate cars to certain dealers and not others. Although there are several factors in this formula the main criteria is the number of Corvette sales a particular dealer has had over the past several years. So you end up with the situation where a relatively small dealer such as Bill Spencer Chev in Cobourg, ON getting way more Corvettes than most of the big Toronto dealers. I was able to get my 2022 HTC in 9-10 months from Humberview Chev (Tom Beard) in Toronto. Although Humberview were not known as a "Corvette dealer" I knew from previous experience that they sold a substantial number of Corvettes each year. I had talked to the big three Corvette dealers in the GTA and all were very up front with me that it would take over 12 months to get delivery. Humber estimated 10-12 months and delivered in 9-10 months. Demand has increased since then. The good news is that GM Canada has been pretty successful in preventing Canadian dealers from selling over MSRP but be on the look out for "mandatory" dealer installed options such as window engraving, tire protection, nitrogen in tires, ceramic coating etc. being sold at crazy prices. When I was shopping for my daily driver (Porsche Macan GTS) in 2020 I had a dealer pull that stunt. I walked to another dealer and purchased there. Good luck and have fun.

Yes real world numbers will be different.
And as far as can recall, the paper numbers are for the coupe. You have to add 0.1 for the HTC due to weight.
I wanted the non Z, but couldn't pass up my allocation and went Z51 due to constraints.

I believe you have been told correctly for your location. Top 3 corvette dealers by allocations are all in southern Ontario and their wait times are about 2 years.
Could you possibly elaborate on which 3 in Ontario are the top Corvette dealerships? I'm looking to buy, but my local dealer is going with the early 2025 delivery date. More specifically I'm in Lambton County. Across the river from Port Huron, MI.

You'd want to talk to Brian Cullen in Saint Catharine's

Thanks for that. I used to live up the road from them in Niagara. Grimsby, specifically. We'd drive out to the Starbucks there, because there wasn't one in Grimsby. It was one of the reasons we moved. I see they have one now, but they were a Tim Hortons town back then. Probably still are. I found one used (slightly) online in Barrie, but they wanted a $25000 markup over the build price I got last week at our local dealer. Is that pretty normal now?

I bought mine there. Both Tracy and Jeff are nice people. For car salesmen anyway. ;) Tracy would always answer my calls and answer any of my questions.
