Vette Fest - July 07-08 (Bayfield ON)

Thank you Elaine and all of the people who organized and took part in the show. My wife and I are new to the Corvette scene and decided to try the different shows in our are with Windsor and London. So glad that we decided to make Bayfield our getaway show. We will definitely be there again next year.
glad you can make it! It was definitely a fun time!

Thanks to all for a great show! Got to meet many wonderful people. Here are some more pictures, enjoy!
Go to Media, then "search media" "search everything" for "Bayfield Vette Fest 2023" and click on "Bayfield Vette Fest 2023".
(I couldn't figure out how to upload many pictures other than through media, even then it did not all work ... there is probably a better way ... this was awkward)

we really need for the forum administrators to work on improving the mobile app to allow us to upload more than 5 pics at a time. For major events (or visits to major dealers like my recent one to Ciocca), we may want to upload 50+ pics at a time, not multiple replies with 5 pics each. Does anyone know if this platform has the capabilities for more pics per post ? I know that the desktop access allows for it (I believe). Thanks !!

Re-posting this pic with forum names. It was great for us to be able to meet up.

Just wanted to say how much fun I had at this event. Was very stressful for me to make it there on time. Left Montreal at 8:00 AM, and the GPS ended up taking me thru backroads (which claimed to be the shortest route), Line 11, Country Road 40-something. I ended up hitting construction on one of those distant roads which blocked 4 cars worth of traffic for a while. Ended up arriving at the motel at 18:30, and the meetup at the park for the cruise was for 18:30 with a scheduled departure for 19:00. Lucky for me just made it in time.

The start of the cruise was awesome, taking us thru a nearby neighbourhood, and so many people were standing out front filming and cheering the cars on, felt like we were in a parade, made everyone feel special, lot of compliments and cheering along the way. We then made our way to a brewery, where we all parked in a corn field (approx 100-120 cars I believe). Sadly for @Mr.Corvette & I, we were at the back of the line to get inside to buy a beer, and by the time we walked outside with drink in hand, all of the cars were gone, with only our 2 and someone else left.

@Mr.Corvette quickly grabbed the paper map to try and figure out the route, and even with us trying to gun it (he was gunning, I was trying to keep up), we were not able to find the pack. Luckily I brought some Kenwood walkies, so we were able to keep in touch the whole way. He went ahead to re-traced the same route the others would have taken. However what was more amazing is that he then took me along the scenic route to the port next to Lake Huron, that was just spectacular !! Got some breathtaking pics as we drove by slowly, while the people on the restaurant terrasse gawked at the 2 hot sports cars driving by. We even had some bag pipers offer us 1 of their bag pipes in exchange for our cars. What's interesting is that we both had a similar answer to them without knowing, that it would take a lot more than just a bag pipe to get the car.

The car show was just mind blowing, cannot imagine a bigger vette show, the park was just overflowing with vettes and ran out of room very quickly (many showed up early to get a good spot). Having organized a large scale public event for the last 17 years, I can just imagine the effort, planning and volunteering that goes into a large scale event like this. I could tell with all of the people hustling around, that it must have been husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, cousins, teen kids, neighbours and friends helping out the organizers. So great job @Elaine Coombs for putting in all of that free time and effort to allow vette owners to celebrate the ownership, restoration and modification of their prized possession.

It was great meeting the guys in the picture above, and staying at the same motel as 2 of them (the 2 on the right in the pic). I also wanted to say a special thank you to @Mr.Corvette (aka Scott) who was in constant contact with me along my drive up, and my drive back, to make sure I got to my destination safely, as well as hang with me during the 2 days to make sure all went well, while sharing a wealth of knowledge on the various gens, he is a walking encyclopedia for vettes !!!

This was likely my only trip back to ON (I know Morgan will be trying to convince me for his Finch event), but it was well worth the drive. While the drive down on Friday took close to 10 hours, the drive back on Sun only took 7 (plus 30 min for lunch).

Keep an eye out on this thread, I will be doing 2 video montages, 1 with some drone footage (coupled with some pics), and the other (if it recorded well) a view from my 360 cam suction cupped to the back window (hope it was high enough to clear the windshield) during the Friday cruise.

Stay tuned for more...

Morgan Crosbie review of the event. Fun fact, when he talks at the beginning about the difference between Quebec & Ontario acquiring / owning custom plates, that was info from me (having gone thru the process myself). My car (which he has nicknamed La Belle Bleu) is around the 33:00 mark, showing the clear engine cover out back.

thanks Neil for your review! It was great to meet you! Usually the cruise doesn’t stop so soon out of town and we usually run for about 30 minutes before we stop! Come back next year to check it out again!

Neil, I went to media route to upload a bunch of pictures at a time. It gave me some grief but managed to upload 50+ pictures in a couple of passed, but it was not without complaints of file sizes and upload limits. Still don't have all I wanted to upload. All these were placed in an "album". Then came the daunting task of how to attach such album to a post, could not make that work either, so I had to do a workaround by showing how to get to the media album.

That's the problem with pictures. Size on disk. That's why a lot of sites charge for storage past a certain amount.
If you want to share your pics, I'd still suggest loading them on a site designed for it and then post a link.

Vette Fest 2023 - Video Montage - took me a few hours to edit all the footage and get the speed right, hoping it gives you a feel for the event. Enjoy !!!

The constant "turning" drone shots made me so sick, I couldn't even get to the halfway point. You are banned from using a drone in this way ever again.

in all honesty I should probably have slowed down the panning shots some more but I had so much footage to fit into 2 songs that I had to do it at that speed. Plus there were so many big trees at that park that it was not possible to do long sweeps across the park, trees would get in the way and I did not want to chance going above them, losing line of sight and accidentally clipping a tree on the way down, or have a bird attack it, and have my drone take out an expensive C1/2 etc….

Work with what you have with safety in mind. Will see if I can slow down the panning scenes and release a version 2 at some point
