VelocityYellowRules! has booked his ticket!! I'm Ontario bound finally!!!!!!!

Colin again you are so lucky! What a great variety of cars there are. Yes, the nicer weather is really going to make a difference and it was a real break to have things work out this way.

Is it me or is my hood not latched?? It looks high on the one corner. Many Manny was trying to fit too much new equipment under it??!!

Thanks for posting the pictures, it is really getting hyped up to get there. I'm going to even break out a fresh set of shoes for this, I don't want any worn out soles for this experience!

Cheers,

Garry

Yes Garry I'm truly blessed being so in the thick of things here. I do tend to take advantage of it a lot.....Manny is very patient with me. :D

oh yeah speaking of Manny -- he did say that he didn't have time yet to Duct Tape the hood down yet.... Said he'd be sure and get to it b4 Sunday.

Good afternoon Colin,

It is a nice but cool day and so far the wind hasn't gotten out of hand yet.

Ah where would I be without the "Handyman's secret weapon" in my life??!! Fixing combine grain tank tarps, my rubber boots, airdrill seed/fertilizer hoses. Good enough for NASA to send up, good enough for me!

So are you going to try track/autocrossing/0.25 mile racing now that the work has been done or just want to make sure you can smoke any you punks that pull up beside you at the stop light? I never asked, but what was the motivation on your build????? Gotta be a story here of some kind.

Cheers,

Garry

Nope. None of the above. I mod for the pure joy of modding and for personal satisfaction only. I have nothing to prove to anyone ... tho I have some interest in autocrossing etc but would not go on a regular basis to compete. Just not my bag. I'd go down the 1/4 mile just to see what she'll do and to experience that but not more than once.....just not my thing.

I'm quite happy just having the car the way it is and knowing that it is quick and fast.... As to whether there will be more, well if past experience is any indication I'll say probably......I get the bug occasionally to mod and have some fun -- spend some money, personalize my car.......It's fun.

Eventually I'll get bored with it -- and go out and buy something newer and start the whole process all over again.

It may not be to everyone's liking but it works for me and keeps me out of trouble and entertained. That's what counts. We all do what we want to do.:D

I sort of want to experience the juvenile dream of having the fastest car in town. And even if it only lasts for a day, a week, a month or a summer I'm good with that. Wierd but I just get such a kick of people pointing to the car or waving to me or calling out to me when they pass me in town and our windows are rolled down. Don't get me wrong as I think it is a very beautiful car and stock bloody fast so this will really ramp it up. Plus it gives me a chance to tell kids to keep their noses to the grindstone, do good in school etc. and they can get things like this in their lives.........

It was a good day here, over 18 km of exercise and 4 days from now I'll be probably lying in my hotel room bed and thinking about what an unbelieveable day I just spent with everyone and how damn good my life actually is.

Good night everyone!

Garry

Oh no, the temperature looks good but the chance of precip is increasing! Send the rain clouds south if you can!

But no turning back now.

Any of the guys at the shop play crib??

Maybe I'll be able to get a job sweeping floors at DaSilva Motorsports after all!!

Cheers,

Garry

Garry are you picking up the car from Manny on Sunday (special arrangement) before you go to Moose Winooski's?

Tony and I thought you'd like to meet the guys at our regular haunt: Stoney Creek probably on Wednesday since the weather looks more favourable then.
I can break away for a few hours.

Yes the weather is changeable right now so who knows what we'll get. I expect we'll get some decent weather at some point.

Good afternoon Colin,

Oh yes, I sure hope to get the car on Sunday and Manny indicated that this would be OK with him. I had actually hoped you might be there, you're my go-to guy on seat covers! I'd like to get them in place and I'll also be bringing my CF door sill covers as well to put into place! Sort of want my lady dressed up before I take her out. Wayne figured we'd be there around 5 or 5:30 and as supper was not until closer to 7ish it would be some things we could do beforehand, give us a chance to talk and look at each others cars in more detail.

Stoney Creek on Wednsday sounds good to me! Pencil it in please and alert the troops!!

I'm glad for all the effort that everyone is making to be able to spend some time with me and to overwhelm me with their efforts to make me feel welcome. Trust me that even at this distance it is coming through loud and clear.

You're all the brothers I never had...........

Cheers,

Garry

Hey Garry -- I'll try to make it early Sunday about 5pm......It will depend on a few things here. Hopefully Manny won't mind pitching in on the seat cover install. Wayne is driving you to Manny's and will Brian will be there too?

M/W's is only 5 minutes from Manny's shop and your hotel is 5 minutes from there.

Good evening Colin,

It would be so nice to have two modded SC DaSilva cars there on Sunday that were winter projects!

Apparently yes, Wayne said that Brian might be even at the airport so we can have a convoy of cars to drive to Manny's in.

It would be good to have your experience on the seat covers but if not maybe Manny will help. I am excited to see them on and to have the interior a bit brighter!

Yes, everything is so nicely centralized!!

Cheers,

Garry

You should put a day trip to Grand Bend on your list of things to so while you are here. Let me know. I'll drive down there with you and anyone else that wants to go.
I should clarify. Grand Bend is a beach, and I nice place to spend a day. The drive there is decent too.

Hey Garry, Just getting to the day's posts -- busy day today.......

Manny offered to pitch in on Sunday to get your seat covers on so that you had them for your 4 day visit.

I should be able to be at Manny's for your arrival Sunday afternoon to help out b4 supper.

Less than 2 days to go. I'm still hoping for better weather this week. Everyone at Mud street is looking forward to meeting you next Wednesday.

Good morning Colin, Manny, everyone,

So 24 hours from now I'll be boarding the flight! I hope that I can sleep tonight. I've started to make my list of things to bring and things that still have to get done, thankfully I had the car insruance put back on last week in preparation.

The weather has improved for Wednesday but Sun-Tues still is calling for showers but it is what it is.

That is super to help with the seat covers Manny, I'm thinking you may have done this once or twice before and as Colin said it can be tricky to do having a few people with experience will be so nice. Then we can add the CF door sill strips too!

I was horribly sick yesterday, terrible stomach nausia, it reminded me of what it was like after chemo treatment back in 2006. The bad lower back pain but it is much better this morning. On the plus side I was not in the mood to snakc and so no chocolate covered almonds and if you can beleive it now I'm down to 186 lb! I'm not sure if I shuold use this opportunity to make a run for 180 or if I should rebound to 190-192 which seemed to be an easy weight to hold. I suppose I'll just wait and see.

And otherwise just going to relax and get ready. I just have my son for about 3 more hours and then I will start to pack my bags.

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Garry -- Wednesday looks good for a trip to see the Mud street gang, no chance of showers that day but as you say Sunday afternoon and evening along with Monday/Tuesday will be wet. What can one do.......

Manny isn't too well either as are some of his crew but they're looking forward to your visit as we all are and will tough it out for Sunday afternoon and evening.

I'm picking up Polar Jet in the morning and bringing him back to pick up his car -- in the morning and it looks like he won't be able to make it back in the afternoon...has other commitments.

Margaret should be ok looking after things at home until she leaves to come to our dinner date at 7. Things are quite busy at the moment but she'd love to come with us and meet everyone.

Not long now -- hope you have a safe and smooth flight. We'll see you at Manny's late afternoon.

Colin.

enjoy the festivities folks !!! colin, make sure you get a snapshot of garry's face upon fire-up of his newly modded rocketship. :D

For sure Doug -- that will be one for his scrapbook...
I'll get quite a few of Garry and his car I expect .:D

Unfortunately the rain is forecast to start about the time he arrives at Manny's but I doubt that will dampen his enthusiasm much.

The forecast has improved somewhat: Rain from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon and much better on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, so it's shaping up nicely for his visit.
