Apparently you can’t add the high wing and carbon effects without optioning in the Z07 package. Was thinking doing only the high wing but no Z07. If all have to be done together that’s like 30k+…

this is what my C8 Z06 will look like ($190,000)

Would you mind sharing the price breakdown for that spec, is that 197K before tax?
sorry, my build was $187K after all taxes and fees, but then there is a $3000 gas guzzler levy so I assume $190K

Z06 HTC 3LZ with rapid blue paint + Canadian “gas guzzler” tax + lux tax + sales tax = $190,000
msrp of $154,193.00 + lux tax of $10,838.60 x sales tax of 13% = $186,485.71 + Canadian "gas guzzler" tax/levy of $3000.00= 189,485.71 (also not sure if there is lux tax and/or sales tax on the $3000 Canadian gas guzzler levy which would be as high as $1068).

Ok that number all in makes more sense.

I am having a real problem with that lux tax. It's just pathetic. I am not sure if I can pay it out of principal. That's just me though.
I live in BC and I have called 3 different insurance agency's and none of them were aware of this new luxury tax. Can someone please explain how it works thanks.

In general: for any new vehicle costing over $100,000 (before any taxes), the "luxury tax" is calculated to be 10% of the entire price, or 20% of the price that exceeds $100,000, whichever is less. Your insurance agencies are not "car people" or they've been living under a rock for some time, given their business of selling vehicle insurance, since this was announced years ago but delayed and finally came into effect September 1/22. Check here for more details:

Since you're in BC, you have my sympathy given the already high BC provincial taxes assessed on more expensive "luxury vehicles", to which this new Federal tax is now added.

In the following examples I will use 185K as the purchase price before tax.

Prior to this new luxury tax in BC it went like this: anything over 149,999.99 was subject to 20% pst and 5% gst, so 185,000 x 1.25 = 231,250.00 after tax price.

New luxury tax in BC: 185,000.00 + 17,000.00 luxury tax (the lesser of the 2 amounts) = 202,000.00 x 20% pst and 5% gst, so 202,000.00 x 1.25 = 252,500.00 after tax price.

How can they charge tax on top of the luxury tax, did I get that right ?

That is correct- the luxury tax is taxed! Crazy but true. Also, any trade ins do not affect the luxury tax as it is calculated before trade in, but after any and all addons including extended warranty, PPE or anything else factored into the the price of the car from the dealer. So better to buy the warranty or PPE etc afterwards.

OK, Question asked and answered. Enough about taxes. Lets keep this thread on topic please.
Sorry for going off topic, since this was about build and price I thought taxes fell into that category. That being said I don't see how the US build and price configurator is relevant to Canadian buyers.

No worries about the question. It's the wandering from answering your question, to the complaining about the tax.
The US configurator for the Stingray was available long before the build and price was available in Canada. It's never accurate for us, but it gave us some idea of relative costs and was invaluable for all us dreamers.

Point taken, do you remember what the time gap was before the Canadian configurator was up for the Stingray?
