I know i'll probably get a bunch of blowback from this, however imo wheel mounted paddles SUCK compared to column mounted paddles. My last car had beautiful carbon fiber paddles on the column and it was wonderful under all circumstances, and they were twice the size. Just my opinion, but wish the C8 had it, ah well looks like i'll be spending more time in automatic mode.

Your right , lol. I find on the wheel better because if you want to shift with the wheel turned a fair bit you don’t have to take your hand off the wheel to fumble for the paddle . I suppose what you say about larger paddles would help if on the column.

Like I said I'm sure people can find advantages to both, however just today I was taking a sharp corner accelerating one need to shift and the paddle was roughly over my left knee . My previous car the paddles really 2 in from the steering wheel it only took one finger no matter how the wheel was turned to shift there was no taking your hands off the wheel.
.

If I’m making a left turn at an intersection for example I will up shift with my left hand without even thinking about it. It’s become natural after doing it for so long I guess. Unless I’m on the highway in cruise control I generally have the TX in manual mode. Much more engaging I find. I guess it comes down to how you drive the vehicle. Maybe you can get some kind of paddle extension to make them longer ?

I mentioned it several years ago. When doing a 90 degree turn, especially from a stop, with moderate acceleration, one needs to shift half way through the turn. It is very awkward at best unless one gets used to sliding their hand down the wheel.

Use your opposite hand…..this generally is an issue up shifting. I find that when making a left turn from a stop light for example , as you say , that the up shift paddle is now on the left obviously so just shift up with your left hand as it is now right beside the up shift paddle. Simple .

Right simple. LOL. Like I said it takes getting used to. No different than a stick car where you have one hand on the wheel. You got to get used to it.

Maybe don’t chew gum while you are driving….. ;) but seriously , until I started shifting with the opposite hand in those situations I also found it awkward but now I don’t even think about it.

I never chew gum.
Remember I'm a drummer. I'm used to having 4 limbs working independently, but when you have spent the last 25 years shifting with your right hand and steering with your left, it's hard to retrain your muscle memory.

I hear you. Give it a try and let me know if you find it helpful. Won’t take long to get used to really. Once I started doing this I wondered why I hadn’t thought of it before.
