Featured Snows are on

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Real men drive sports cars all year round. I guess some real men are not all that bright either. Did you ever see F1 in the snow or nascar on ice? 495 Horses and rear wheel drive on snow? Good for .... donuts and ditch visits.
Call me a poser, but I am pretty sure my stored vette and I will be around next spring.

Let us know how you make out. Good Luck
Hi Dave, welcome to the C8 section. We tend to give each other a hard time over here. Thick skin required....

no and no
There are plenty of clubs in Ontario that do Winter fun also. There's ice racing etc.
I'd urge anyone who hasn't joined a motorsports club to do so. Tons of fun to be had.

I drove a rear wheel drive 500hp car for 5 years straight through snow and ice. Never crashed and never got stuck. I guess I must be an extremely talented driver.

Agreed. You likely are a talented driver. But also realize that your Challenger not only has considerably more ground clearance but also weighs in at 1000 pounds give or take more than the Corvette. Above that, I also consider myself a somewhat talented driver but my talent alone cannot be trusted to totally compensate for the lack of winter driving talent apparent in hundreds of thousands of other so called drivers out there. Thus, my Corvette stays safe and warm in the garage. So you guys who brave the snow and ice have fun out there and hopefully stay safe and undamaged. Remember, composite bodies shatter quite easily at frigid temperatures.

Thanks Jack. I was also going to dig in at the poser thing adding that real men drive sports cars with 3 pedals and a manual transmission, and keep their cars on the road without traction and stability controls, but.... I didn't.

Lets keep LOL.

I`m considering attaching a snow plough ( high end front spoiler) to my C8. I have the `all season` run flats so nothing to worry about. Might make some extra cash doing driveways or racetracks.
Ok as part of this thread ?

Great , if you are going with a plow, best colour match it, but you'd also need to install those really ugly light bars that would provide headlights and turn signals that the plow would not block. Just need a few holes and some 5/8 carriage bolts and maybe some angle iron braces to hold the the lights . That'd make her one purty corvette right there! (LOL)

Not looking for affirmation. Looking for solid individuals to hang out with this winter. Who wants to hang with a guy whose middle name is "Garage Queen"...
Call me Mr. Garage Queen hahaha. I am not saying I would not love to drive it on the dry road days, but just not worth the insurance and snows to me. I admire your tenacity.

Insurance. perhaps, but snows double the life of regular tires when driven all year long.

The key there being year long time frame. Makes no difference if you are driving only in summer and on the same tires 6 out of 12 months. I am pushing the season to the bitter end and will take it out as soon as the warm weather comes again in spring. I hope I can have an 8 month season. Will likely put it away after this final warm spell. Planning a drive on Saturday if any of you die hards are interested. I think a meet up in Orangeville and not sure of route from there.

Congrats SEBRING C8, you will enjoy winter driving in your new C8. The C8 should have improved snow traction with the 40/60 weight distribution.

When I questioned the instructors at Spring Mountain in 2018, they told our class that winter driving was only for 'real men' when using summer Michelins 😂 . However they said any owner with the motivation can drive their Vette all year round with a set of Michelin Alpins. They went into stories about how the C7 was tested extensively in winter conditions and that corrosion is not a significant issue on these cars.

I drove my 2017 coupe through 1 1/2 winters and just installed winter wheels/tires on my 2019 Grand Sport vert. Looking forward to another winter driving season. I don't drive on fresh snow more than 3" deep, but here in the Ottawa area the roads are plowed within a day of any snowfall. The Michelin Alpins provide exceptional traction in snow and slush but I have not attempted to drive on clear ice after freezing rain. Driving with Weather mode selected also adds additional controls.

The downside I foresee with the GS vert is the inability to go through a brushless car wash like I did with the coupe. I will have to go to the high pressure manual wash booth for a regular clean up. Picture below of the 2017 coupe in winter clothing!
