Rust proof ?

CFRP currently. SMC before that, and fibreglass in the earliest models.
Or, was this a rhetorical question?
Sort of . As far as I can find there is only 400 lb of steel in a C8 . Engine crank, connecting rods ,valves, and exhaust as well as brake rotors which is all I can think of, except for perhaps some fasteners .So the point of this is that driving in areas where salt is used on the roads shouldn't be a worry from a rust standpoint . Happy New Year !

I assumed you were headed in that direction. If the reinforcement in the CFRP isn't steel or steel mesh, you're probably mostly correct. Very little iron based metal exposed to the corrosive elements of winter in Canada. Now, if we melded with the USA, in a "no borders" symbiotic synergistic union, we could drive to places where winter is less oppressive to our preferred modes of transportation (C8) for as long as necessary. If only....

Exhaust manifolds, clamps, hangers, exhaust system in general, and fasteners as you suggested? Probably fairly chunky all of that.
For sure . More aluminum used than anything.

Aluminum doesn't lose mass like steel. Also it mostly just pits or tarnishes.
Apparently it depends to a great degree on the type of alloy used . There are " marine " grades " which are more resistant than say the aluminum in your storm door. No idea what GM uses though but I suspect regardless that the degree and rate of corrosion would be less than steel.

I'n not sure how well the aluminum framework is sealed up , but road salt will cause corrosion on aluminum.
Maybe I should start to drive mine in the winter as salt isn't used here at all. Then again I'm not sure if it would like -40 degrees ambient........ ;)

That is why they make AWD SUV so you can keep the C8 for decent weather. :heavycar: ;)

Just plugged in my Tundra although it's only-32 this morning. It still only needs about two hours of juice to not to be too cranky starting. That's a battery blanket and block heater. I keep the battery tender plugged in 24/7 in the cold weather though. Got my C8 out April 15 last spring so only another 14 weeks, lol. Sim rig till then to scratch the itch . This looks amazing at 4K with HDR on an OLED . Plays amazing as well if you have the hardware to run it maxed out.....
