Anyone use it; if so how much and available where?
I'm hesitant to deviate from GM's Mobil 1 recommendation but I have to ask since I've heard good things about RP.

I have used it here in the shop for a few years , no issues :D

Motor oil , trans fluid , rear diff fluid , power steering fluid ,liquid ice -coolant conditioner . All products are in my personal Vette.

Aha....RP is more popular than I realized.

Anyone done a Blackstone analysis to confirm its superiority/quality? I've never done one but I know a few who do subscribe to these analyses.
It would confirm our suspicions of the oil's rep.

Just wondering -- The mileage that I do won't necessitate more than 2 changes a year even at the brief change interval I like (5k), so the extra coin really doesn't matter that much.

I'm tempted to pay the extra and give it a try and hope to reap the relative long term benefits.
As for oil filters I've been told that Mobil 1 filters "look exactly the same as RP filters". I cannot confirm this since I've not seen a RP filter and couldn't tell about construction differences by looking anyway.
I do know that the filters are hard to find but are available.
I have read a comprehensive comparison that rates Mobil 1 as one of the best so will probably stay with it.

Thanks for responding and sharing with us.

I'm 'phoning Performance Improvements in Guelph tomorrow for availability and pricing -- I'll post up what I find out.

Cheers,
Colin.

Colin , I do carry and stock it :D

After reading the RP website it seems that all their oils carry a certain amount of zinc but the HPS racing type oil has more of it formulated in.

Manny, do you carry both API licensed and the HPS formula for racing? I understand that for most non racing applications (street use) the API formula is appropriate and approved by car manufacturers.

Interesting reading.

Colin we use the API formula as per manufacturers spec .

RP and new filter installed and ready to roll Manny ......thanks.

Didn't drive anywhere yet but Margaret and I did the change .. No worries. She's quite mechanically inclined and enjoyed the experience. Also got to use my new ramps and aluminum Trolley Jack.

Not sure who's damaged rims they were sitting on the ground with the 345/225/20's but there was a comment that they were damaged by someone who swerved into a curb or something to miss a dog. Bummer damage to expensive rims but good for the dog.

Funny thing happened when I restarted the car after installing the RP : It didn't do its normal 'stumble' when starting --

Hard to describe if you don't understand but it was as if it fired initially b4 stumbling and then fired/started normally after the stumble.

Now with the RP oil and new filter it fires without any stumble -- I like that but can't explain why. Have you heard of anything like that related to oil and filter change.

Nice to see all the peeps today and meet your neighbour (the biker) and see all the 'vettes ..
LOL the fella that was dropping off his C5 for a supercharger was quite excited -- and understandably so.
There were at least a half dozen 'vette lovers there today who I met -- Was cool altho you guys must have been a little held up by our antics.....

Cheers,
Colin.

I not sure how to explain the anomaly you experienced with the RP oil change . I can only say that maybe your car was so excited to being touched that it just corrected its self

LOL, You know I hadn't realilzed that but she is purring like a kitten and is just responding to my tender touch.

I hope she'll be just as happy when I make her roar like a lion too. I'm sure she will.

Nice to chat ..

Yup, might not be true blue Chebby having one of each but the 2 go nicely together and seem to compliment each other.
I think I'm pretty lucky having a SHO and a 'vette. I do spoil myself sometimes.

Now after a long hard winter of snow and blowing and being snowed in and all that, It's vette time.

Wait a minute, we didn't have winter yet. What a shame we missed winter...........oooooooooooh nooooooooooo....

I'll have to console myself with a nice long ride in my little red sweetheart tomorrow . :driving::driving:

Boo Hoo Boo Hoo -- no winter no winter .... I'll have to get the snowblower out soon and let her know I'm still her's too and put her back to bed until next spring
