Hi all.
Newbie here with a question. Hope I'm doing this right, but if not, perhaps someone will educate me.

My C8 Stingray HTC is black, with black wheels. It does have muted red racing stripes, hood roof & trunk. But from the side view it is all black. In looking for options to brighten the side view a bit, I came across rim protectors, which I had not seen before. Apparently they are intended to protect rims from road rash, but could also be a visual addition, if I used red ones like my stripes.

I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience with them, and could offer a review? Do they stay put, do they last, what do tire shops do if you show up with them installed etc???

Any info appreciated!!!!
 
I understand why you want to do it. If I was in the 18-26 y/o demographic I'd say sure go for it. I can't think of anyone here who has them. If you need tire repair, you peel them back off. Try it and if you don't like it, sell them on our Classified Section. Nothing ever goes wrong over there lol...

Might be a bit loud but would certainly ' brighten up ' the side view ;) although going by the pic of your car it looks really good the way it is .

Thanks, I am getting more used to the black, but my C5 Z06 was Millenium Yellow, and it wasn't drab. But hoping to get useable info as to whether those protectors are useful, or just a gimmick.

Thanks!!! Much appreciated. I found similar info as well, but was hoping to hear from someone who has actually used them. So far nobody has chimed in, so I guess that means that they aren't very widely used, which makes one wonder why. Kinda seem like a good idea to me, and the right front rim on my Jag XJR would agree, if it could talk. Hmmmm.

Perhaps folks should pay attention to what the post says before making rude comments.
My main reason for considering them was visual appeal. If they happen to be protective, that's a bonus. And I guess that's what they're intended for.

Relax. No one was being rude, just poking fun. It sounded like you did hit a curb with your Jag.
At least one person has not liked the machine edged black wheels and bought those. As usual if they had an issue with them we'd have heard about it. So I'd say your good to try them.

I do recall someone posting about them some time ago but can't remember exactly. Might be worth trying the search function top right ....

I know! Crazy . They are a 'thing ' in Texas. Looks like something out of ' Road Warrior '.....must be a bugger in a drive through car wash.
