Quicker than Z06!

I figured getting a Z06 was going to be near impossible, so I put my name down for an E-ray. I would have probably have taken a Z06 if there was a chance. I didn't think they'd be of the same rarity. I figured people wouldn't want the hybrid as much.

No, 0-60 is almost always quicker and in some rare cases almost the same in cars with poor traction. 0-60 relies on launch control, but 5-60 shows you the true power of the car with launch control eliminated

Agree for an automatic with launch control but disagree for a manual tranny. The argument that would explain the 'Why' would be based on engine rpms. High rpms coming out of launch control, and low rpms, thus a moment of bog hesitation when at 5 mph. Thus with a standard, as you coming up on 5 mph, apply clutch and pedal the rpms up nice and high, at 5 mph, dump the clutch and hang on. No bog. Can you do that with a C8 if you pull both paddles to allow it to rev? And will it be in gear if you release while at a higher rpm? Just a thought from an engineering mind.

You should be able to, with the nannies turned off, though I have not intentionally tested it ...

most people drive most of the time on the streets and do not use launch control, so 5-60mph is a good indicator of how quick a car is in real world conditions.

Here is something else to consider why 5-60 is better indicator of performance: 0-60 is measured with a 1 ft rollout, meaning the timer starts after the car has traveled 1 foot from the starting line and ignores some of the wheel spin and time lost. In fast cars 1 ft rollout equals to 0.2-0.3 seconds but we both know that 3 seconds is 3 seconds not 2.8 or 2.7 because of the rules used to measure it.

Car and Driver tested a stingray coupe Z51 at 0-60 of 2.8 sec with 0.2 sec 1 ft rollout and Z06 HTC non-z07 at 0-60 in 2.7 sec with a 0.3 sec 1ft rollout which means both cars took exactly the same 3 seconds to get to 60mph. But when you look at 5-60 stingray did it in 3.5 and z06 in 3.1
