With my luck of course, the brand new 2017 C7 2LT Z51 with 11km I went to test drive and make a deal on had a huge problem with the shifter going back into neutral from 3rd upon deceleration. I took my sales rep for a drive as well who insisted that this would be resolved by taking the car out of Transport Mode. Naturally, I didn't believe him, I can't imagine someone driving the vehicle that seemed so unsafe.

After being promised that it would be fixed within a day they admitted fault and brought to my attention a TSB that GM released identifying the problem. I just want you guys to be aware of this issue for those of you shopping around for a new Vette. To avoid delays and headaches like I had make sure this is checked, its only for a small batch of 2017s. The repair time is up to 2 weeks depending on part availability.

Some pictures of the TSB, issue and resolution:

Typical "lying scum" breed of salesman. Fortunately there are plenty of decent ones out there as well.

When looking to purchase a GM Minivan in 2009 I asked part of the upholstery. "Is it leather"? I asked. "No it's pleather" says the sales scum. "Oh... like naughahide (sp?) or vinyl?" I say. "No, it is a blend of leather and vinyl" he replies. My wife, son and I started laughing and soon walked away. No sale at that dealership.
Found a believable salesperson at another dealer. Deal made.

OMG Toxix ... I'm sitting back with my :Lurk5:and soda waiting for the next "scene" in your introduction thread ... and now I've got popcorn all over the place :WillyNilly: oh the horror!

hahahaha....Salesmen will often say pretty much anything usually for a couple reasons... One... What was it Vintage Racer said..."lying scum"... yup that's one reason... and the other is they have no idea what they are talking about and don't want to look stupid and lose a sale...
When I bought my C7 the salesman told me the Active Rev match paddles were for shifting without using the stick or the clutch.... He was a kid..I laughed at him and he apologized to me later saying he hadn't done his homework on the car and really thought that's what the paddles did... But it was a good thing one of us had done our homework or else I'd be wondering why my car still won't shift out of first.... maybe it's still in 'transport mode'...

Yup so true! Reality is ...
There are a few in sales who actually do the work to get it however many more there ready to just take the credit ...
and reality for those few is that it's always best to be the one who does the work ... because there is far less competition.

(I have fortunately found a Dealership in Edmonton with an exception number of great people working there)

Pretty much agree with the above posts. When I bought my C7, the salesman seemed like he couldn't care less that he was selling a $80,000 car. He didn't know details about the car, he didn't call me to inform me the status of the order, I waited almost 7 months for the car and he quoted me a 2014 price without knowing the 2014 allocations are gone and I would be getting a 2015, with the new price. The dealership was great, just the sale guy not so much. Still I love the car.

Now, don't get mad at me guys but this concerns me quite a bit. Now, I've had Fords, Explorers, Focus' and 3 Mustangs all in the last 5 years.

I've been treated very well, haven't had any BS, runarounds, nonsense words being shared. So this is new to me. I've walked away from deals when I had bad experiences with a dealer. Walking away from this deal would have been a bit of a challenge because of the scarcity of the Corvette I want. The color, the options were lining up almost perfect so I didn't want to walk away from this.
Seems like you've all had similar experiences. Considering this vehicle being almost double the cost of my last I expected a better level of service.

Oh well, hopefully after all is said, done and delivered the interaction will come to an end.

No worries here Toxix. We do what we must do. Just because your salesman is a dufus doesn't mean you have to be his friend and also doesn't mean you have to walk away from the deal. If the car is right and the deal fits, go for it. If the dealership turns out to be fine, so be it. If not, take your maintenance and warranty work elsewhere. Any GM dealership will look after you or at least they do here.

Without hesitation, I concur with "Rruuff Day" Toxix.
I must admit that I am growly and anxious to get my brand new Stingray out of hibernation and I bit at the opportunity whenever it appears that sales is taking any respect toward the customer for granted. I share concern with regard to the GM notice along with yourself and everyone else. All of it though without an intentional deconstructive regard toward your purchase confidence. Based from my experiences, I have little doubt that your hard effort will become pure joy in your life that you will be able to share with others after the fact.

One thing you must prepare for is that your cheeks will hurt from your grinning on the delivery day of YOUR New Corvette
(which is one of the many cliché for this forum ... yup!)

I most certainly didn't want to walk away from it.
On a positive note I have received an update advising that the car should be good to go soon. Hoping early next week this happens.

... oh I just can't wait for where the pooch ears will pop up in the pics of the new vette in your shop ...
ok ... I'm going back to your "intro thread" Toxix and wait for your delivery pics (before & after?) ....
(but ... in Vegas this weekend for 5 days with 2 of them rocking in a Spring Mountain Stingray) :Seeya:

thx Rruuff ! (below)

What I found recently is that salesmen don't know the cars they're selling. They don't know the features of the cars and the options. I haven't run into one that's been useful.

Just stopped in to a GM Dealership in Vegas ... blew me away ... I was in absolute heaven. 4 corvettes right in front ... went inside 5 more including the new rare 2017 Watkins Glen with Blue Accent Interior Grand Sport (was told maybe 1000 to be made with the spec). They also have a spec'd out Calloway. Was introduced to the Dealership Corvette Specialist (never knew of such a person). Ask if I wanted to see more ... said sure why not .... and was took to the second floor door out into the Dealership parkade (yes parkade)!
I kid you not ... there was 80 more corvettes. I took a pano photo and will post it when I return back home. There is suppose to be more corvettes coming in before I leave so I'm stopping back in to see what rolls off the trucks. This Dealership is unbelievable !!! The corvette sales specialist knew it all and even dropped a few well know names ... and has a back ground with spring mountain too. It was an absolute sugar rush .... oh yes didn't buy a vette but I did walk away with a brand new 2017 brochure .... winning!

Heh ... my 100th message ....

Oh ... forgot ... the Dealership said they didn't have any experiences with the tranny problem as of yet but admitted they are aware of it

Unfortunately this is not exclusive or limited to the auto industry. This day and age you can walk into a walmart, most restaurants, etc etc....and most of the staff have no clue and do not care about their product knowledge or giving amazing service. As a matter of fact it is soo rare now I go out of my way to reward and make sure a person knows when they are actually doing a great job. It's a sad time when I can walk into almost ANY store and know more than the people selling the product. The new normal unfortunately.
