Possibly buying a 1996 Collectors Edition...a Florida car

Hi Matt..
I didn't realize the other '96 Coll Ed was at $12.5K...
Good luck with the '86.
I'm excited for you getting a Corvette.

How many of you have vettes with stick???
General consensus among friends and family is if you want to drive a sports car it should be stick..
This 1986 vette also has the Z51 performance handling package...which is nice.

I have a 6 speed. I feel more engaged with a standard and love it but really don't like having standards in my daily drivers if that makes sense. However, if I was to get a new Corvette, I would have to take a look at the 8 speed auto.....

I'm a manual guy and have DD'd manual vehicles and grew up on the farm with manual trans tractors, grain trucks, pickups, etc.

I love rowing gears, I also like having to know and/or preselect the gear you want to be in for any WOT type driving. I have never enjoyed autos, but the wife's ML350 Bluetec is of course an auto and I don't mind it. My 650hp Silverado SS is my DD when not on shift and I wish I could convert it to a 6M!

I have also had the pleasure of riding in and driving a brand new C7 Z06 A8. That auto shifts incredibly fast and firm, but again, it has always bothered me not knowing what gear it will select when you punch it and it downshifts. Of course the nannies in the new Vettes are world class and that car puts all 650hp down extremely well. Even so, if I was buying a C7, it would be manual all the way.

Also drove a DCT M3 V8. Paddle shifting was fun, and it held the gear like a manual which definitely made the driving experience feel a lot more "in control." If I couldn't buy a proper manual, a DCT would be my next choice.

Currently, my 1999 Camaro SS is an M6, my Grand Sport is an M4, and my quad is a manual. Lawn tractor is hydrostatic LOL!

You have to admit that the hydrostatic on the lawn tractor is the way to go. Need one hand to hold the beer.

I agree with you on the manual transmission. My son sold his Mitsubishi Lancer to get a "family" vehicle and he was lamenting the fact he probably will never have a manual again.

Quite the fleet of horsepower machines you have.

Hydro tractor is fantastic no question!

Just for the record, the C7Z06 is a good friend of mine's - I wish I could afford one, or even the new Grand Sport :)

Thanks Black 03:Cheers2:

A stick in mine. It is my favourite vehicle to drive as my truck and the wife's car are both automatics; convenient but no enjoyment.
