Not completely up on this... but heard you need a european version detector to get some of the new photo radar.... and seen some posts that their european dector is not going off.

MultaRadar CD (MRCD) Photo Radar in Edmonton Alberta

In Edmonton the rear photo laser tickets need this Antilaser AL Priority - Best Laser Jammer in Canada and USA

and maybe this.....

Net Radar ALP Radar Add-On

now if your on a highway they use the reg laser guns... but most times your caught on the first beam.

Hard call what to do.... takes maybe $2500-3000 to get you protected....and your not 100% protected

I have an Escort Passport Max with red light/speed on green notifications. Has worked great for me but still doesn't protect you from the " Instant on " mode the cops have and use. They'll get you every time, every detector.

A lot of the highway cops still use radar Brian. Not all use laser. I have a Passport Max 360 and it has paid for itself in a few years.
What B said about the Dragon lidar, which is what is used for photo radar in Edmonton and Calgary is what I read and heard as well. Now, my detecter will not pick them up but it has GPS built in. I can use the smart cord and set a point for the GPS to remind where photo radar usually sits. Plus you can connect via bluetooth through an app on your phone, upload your spots to a data base and download other peoples uploaded spots. I tend to know where the photo radar spots are but on nice days I drive my car to work so on the way home I might zone out on remember but it will give me a verbal warning to help out. The unit Mikey has will do the same.

Ya, some radar still happens.

I have a laser jammer new sealed I have had for years..... don't know which vehicle to install it in.

I have a 9500ix with live cord and I use traptap too ... traptap is new and needs more users. Winnipeg company... I would wait till the 2nd version/gen comes out..... not sure when but they have been asking us beta users for feedback.

I have a couple of cheaper units (a Cobra, and an old Bel), and a Passport 8500xi. They all do a reasonable job of informing that I am about to get a ticket about a second before the flash goes off, or approximately two seconds before I can hit the brakes.

I have paid out more money to purchase radar detectors than I have paid out for tickets. At least twice I have paid for tickets while having an expensive radar detector in the car that didn't warn me in time.

The best radar detector in the world is still my eyes, and with the optional accessory of my brain which is not always reliable, but it works better than any device that I have ever paid money for.

Me too J. Once in my 06 wrx sti and one last fall just east of the Cochrane hill. A sheriffs car sitting on Meskanaw road lit me up like stampede fireworks.

What are you running for a radar detector, and does it pick up photo radar?
I have a Passport 8500 which I have had for a long time- have not used since last summer - only use if going on long hwy. trip. I did a bit of research on RDs a while ago; and, I believe Passport makes the best one: more sophisticated now with front and rear sensors. Also, at car show a while back and you can get a system installed that senses and blocks photo radar. This combo would be a fair bit of money, I am sure.
