Neutral release bracket .

They have their specialty bespoke hand tool that cost upward of $1k/very expensive tool basically does the same thing. That's what the Boostdistrict vid. said I think.
Except you have to keep your hand on it the entire time as it doesn't lock in place . Take the pressure of it and the parking pawl engages again. Pretty slack on the part of the GM designers .

I think it was 1K for the whole C8 kit. Included a few other things, but I can't remember what.

Tow hook but that was about it . Crazy price . I just managed to get the Boost District spring pin type ordered from Paragon after 5th attempt. Did get a couple of prompt emails from them asking me to try again as they just changed their payment processor yesterday. Dropped the Canadian shipping cost as well. Pretty lame on the part of GM , you would think they could have come up with a cable release like for the frunk or something. Imagine the battery or fuel pump or some other gremlin showing up and the engine quits at a busy intersection......

No, there is / was more to it than that. I was considering purchasing it in 2020. It's been 5 years and have no idea where I have the info now, but I'm pretty sure there was more. I remember GM or someone saying it was a must for dealers to purchase it. Likely not now, but that's what I heard at the time.

Edit: From John on midengine in August of 2020.

The answer to your question as to tools is that a dealership can not work on nor sell a C8 unless they have purchased the C8 specific tool package (total cost of $1,454).

Interesting to review them one by one. The most expensive one, a tool we expected to be on it, is a specialized “transmission support/service feature” (a cradling jack @ $441), e.g., a DCT transaxle is a costly piece. Then there is a manual park release wrench at $331; also required for such work is the $57 “support mount transmission table.” Another major one is the $200 “engine support fixture adapter.” All of these things we are not surprised to see for servicing a mid engine vehicle.

The rest are 10 more minor tools costing a total of less than $400 collectively.

How are you using this ? I'm not picking up what you're trying to lay down, lol.

I do recall seeing that info somewhere before. I was referring to the kit with the GM recommend release tool/lever kit . I have seen this for as much as $1200 !
Problem with it as I see it is that you have to keep your hand on it the entire time as it doesn't lock in place . Awkward to say the least. I ordered the spring pin locking one this morning from Paragon as I mentioned and got a shipped notification half an hour later..... this is the other one I referred to

Not sure why the customs clearance and import duties/tariff are because of the US. Those are Canadian charges!
You tariff me I tariff you . This tariff certainly isn't to protect Canadian manufacturers of a similar product......the customs clearance portion of the charge is a different story . That's an administrative fee.

If I were going to get towed, I'd carry a set of "skids" also known as "tire skates".
Faster, cheaper, and a lot less hassle.
Or, buy two tow hooks and install front and rear. i recommend not buying cheap ones: Paragon Performance or ACS? I can't remember where I bought mine? I ordered initially from Amazon: they were cheap - terribly made - and would look awful installed. When you pay $125K+ for a car? I would get 4 jack pucks for the underside of your car as well - Paragon or ACS ( great mud rock guards as well - $700.00) - both suppliers are high quality.

I picked these up on Amazon with free shipping , very solid . Lots of companies are selling them but I would bet they are all being made in the same Chinese factory. Although both Paragon and ACS have quality products, and I have purchased products from both ,

it seems to me that $170.00 CAD plus shipping etc is a bit rich .

I thought Carney chickened out and dropped the reciprocal tariffs. I guess I was wrong. Hopefully it wasn't shipped UPS cause their customs clearance charges are crazy.

It was shipped with DHL . No doubt determining what gets tax , duty , tariff or customs clearance charges is hard to figure out . I have noticed that some things coming from outside the country are and some aren't and you can't always tell when you order it . Sometimes it seems the shipper isn't even sure or so they claim. About this time last year I received a shipment of computer hardware from the US which was close to $9,000 and customs clearance was $11.40 ! Go figure. That was with FedEx . I also had to pay the shipping charge directly to FedEx at the same time but it was the exact amount quoted by the shipper .

Part arrived today. Given what they charge to ship it and the weight/volume, it should have been overnight, lol. $68 USD is a bit steep to say the least. The bracket is smaller than I expected and weighs about as much as a popcorn fart.... actually just under 92 grams .

Is there a documented install procedure for dummies? :)
Actually Davenport said they would bolt it on when they are installing the exhaust. You would think that GM would have used a similar bracket with a cable you could access in the trunk to release the parking pawl . Similar to the one for frunk access. Really lame on their part .
