Need new battery? Advice on brands please.

When I first got my car couldn't figure out why the hood light wouldn't work. First tried new bulb and then after testing for voltage, I discovered that the plug had been disconnected. Pluged it back in and I thought problem solved!! A couple of days later when I out to my garage after dark, just before I hit the light switch to turn on the main lights I saw a glow on the floor under the Vette. Turns out the mercury switch on the hood light had gone bad and thats why it was disconnected it wasn't turning off!! Okay I thought, I'll get a new switch. Well that was quick lesson from GM!! The stupid switch was priced so badly that I never got one and never had to look under the hood in the dark for the five years I've owned it. Since then while looking under the hood of other C6's, I've noticed others being unhooked or the owners were complaining about dead batteries.

And yes the light can still be on with the car off as it's a directly connected from the fuse to the light, threw the mercury switch.

just a FYI guys, GM now has a policy that any new car sitting on the lot has to have the battery charged monthly, so it's not just Vets that have the constant drain going on...

Interesting Steamer. I'll have to check my '06. I knew the '11 wasn't on since I disconnected it because I was always 'tinkering', but the '06 no tinkering and no check. Thanks for the reminder.

Seems there are a lot of live circuits in these cars these days and some of them are computers of which there are somewhere in the region of 24! No wonder batteries are having a hard time 'keeping up'.

Not so long ago the car companies were asking battery manufactures about suppling 24 volt batteries for cars. I wonder if this is why.

Happy with the AC Delcominpurchased last year. If for nothing else, to keep something in the car OEM. I think that will be ,y plan for things like starters, batteries, alternators, etc--anything to do with the electric.

There are other great batteries out there, but decent ones seemed to all be in a similar price range.
