Well it has been just 3 days of ownership and 800 kms later, I can say yes, it is on a different level than the SR. Not saying a SR is a bad car. With a much higher price point for a Z06, you would expect the experiences that matches the asking price?
This car is not just about the LT6 but the whole pkg including the PFC.
Eventhough I have 1LZ trim, it is so much more capable than my Z51 SR in every way; handling, braking, the beautiful widebody, and icing on a cake is the exhaust.
The power is one of a few things you need to adjust to amount other things in the good way of course. On the trip home from the dealership, there was enough power to get around slower traffic and to spare even at the limited breaking in rpm of 6.5k. It may be just be as fast a SR even at the restricted rpm. That would be a competitive race? I haven't yet gone past 6.5k because I got so much speed out of it already. It is so easy to speed that you need to check your speedo often. And the myth of the "no torque" is proven wrong and that the driver doesn't know how to drive this car. We have the super quick DCT, so use it properly. Lol.. I can easily get around slower traffic at 3k rpm and no need to rev it out pass 6k for daily driving.
Gas mileage is around the same as the SR. Cruising around at 1.8-2k rpm.
I don't have the good fortune to own other high-end vehicles to compare this car to, but from the consensus on the web, the Z06 is right up there.
So I am very lucky. Can't wait till next spring/summer.

Congratulations! I hope you can keep your license, lol. I believe you can set an alarm for a given speed in settings which let's you know to slow down. But , where's the fun in that ? ;)

Go to the Ron fellows school and learn to drive the car correctly.
You will also find that in the hands of a more capable driver the SR will stand up to the Z06 on 9 out of 10 road course and in almost all street driving situations.
Wide body Looks and start up sound aside, the cars are more similar than ,many realize.

The torque band is totally different. Compare dyno pulls to see that.
Of course they're different but it's too bad most Stingray owners have never driven a Z06, I've tracked and drag raced both and can tell you the Z06 pulls harder everywhere, 0-60, 1/4 mile, exit of corners, most don't realize that the Z06 has more torque at 3500 rpm than the Stingray where the Z06 is often cruising around town, so beware if you pull up to one thinking a roll race that the Z06 won't pull hard down low

Ya, good to know. I just knew they had to be different. No idea otherwise.

Ya, maybe If I get some time I'll try and find some dyno sheets on the interwebs, but as we all know HP is a function of torque and RPM. To get the HP numbers the Z06 has, it needs to rev high. So you'd think the torque curve would be flatter longer. But that's just a guess on my part. I certainly don't need to rev high. I love the power the SR has just the way it is. I also love that it's more docile than the Z.

This reminds me of the differences between the L98 and the LT5 of the C4. Same difference. That DOHC pull great without loosing it's breath to red line of 6500 where as the L98 loses steam at around 4500. The magic happen at 3500-4000 all the way to redline. Ever since, I am a big fan of DOHC engines V8s.
I hope the C9 will have nothing else but DOHC.

Even though I'm a Z06 owner now, I have owned 3 C8s and they are still a great car and definitely best bang for your buck.

Its like the Porsche 911. I've owned a few of them including two versions of the Carrera T and a 2018 991.2 GT3. The minute I drove the GT3 I was ruined...its sublime. The Z06 is the same feeling for me owning a Corvette; just a completely different drive.
