You will find that these yahoos who screw people around will struggle in their business their whole lives and never figure out why or they will simply go bust and go work for someone else. Some of them are simply in over their heads and don't actually have the ability to repair these cars. It takes a place like Manny's shop and lots of experience to get the jobs done. Look at the pictures of his shop. Corvettes everywhere getting work done. It says a lot.

mechanically speaking, a c3 is not terribly complicated. it really makes a person wonder if this other shop is devoted entirely to ripping people off rather than bona fide repair work.

After some careful investigation , we determined that the carb was rebuilt incorrectly as well the timing was way off . On top of that the rear drain for water at the filler neck was plugged and the gasket was missing from the cap . This caused water to enter the gas tank and really make a mess . We drained about half a bucket of water from the tank . After removing all the debris an installing a gasket along with some tuning on the new Holley 750 Double Pumper , runs like a charm

I agree! I imagine it's one thing to pull a car apart and fix it. I imagine its a totally different thing to have a car come in and the only explanation is, it used to run, I don't know what the other people did, but it doesn't run anymore, can you fix it?

The owner must be really happy! At least I know I would be!

Good Morning All
Just to give all a progress update
Sandy and I went to pick up the car as Manny called on Tuesday saying the car was completed and ready for pickup.

The car went in not running and came out running like a Swiss watch
Goes to show you when you have knowledgeable people working on your car how much better it all is.

Manny and his team were excellent and one of the many comments Sandy said to me is that everyone there really enjoys what they do and are happy, he is not used to seeing that.
Enthusiast true at heart and the passion shows!

Ok on to what was done:
- new Holley 750 carb (old one was defective and hooked up incorrectly)
- new starter old one was problematic
- rebuilt auto trans with stage 2 shift kit and vacuum correction as there was not enough vacuum to power the trans
- 2000 stall convertor installed, car didn't have one and it has a mild cam that came with the car
- reinstalled a new heater core (previous place removed it as it was an issue and didn't replace it) simply told Sandy it wasn't needed, however on a day like yesterday it was appreciated!
- new tires (old ones were cracked and unsafe)
- complete fluid change
- tune up (timing was off)
- rear bushing replaced
- alignment
- all suspension bolts checked and re torqued

Sandy was very happy although wasn't a good day to test the car
It drove like a new car

So Phase 1 completed at Dasilva Motorsports although a long list, it was all small items that should have been caught by the 3 previous shops.

Phase 2:
- new electric vacuum at system as with the mild cam the car does not produce enough vacuum to power head lights etc
- a few electrical gremlins to be resolved
- body bushings replacement and suspension change

Phase 3:
- Headers and side pipes
- Wheel package

Thanks Manny and team for restoring faith into Sandy and it was a nice present.
He was very happy and wishing for spring now so he can enjoy it!

I had an under hood fire one time and it was attributed to a neoprene line on the pressure side of the fuel pump letting go. I see one on this car. Fortunately there was a guy right there with a fire extinguisher to put the fire out. Since then, I've always run steel lines even if I had to fabricate them myself. That Corvette no doubt had been running with a lot of water in the gas for a long time. That will cause corrosion in the internal passages of the carb and plug things up. If you ever have a valuable original carb for your car and want it restored to perfection. Eric Jackson is the man. He TOTALLY disassembles the carbs to get these internal passages clean as well as the outside. It does cost quite a bit but can save a numbers carb.
