Just got a C6 LS2 - Help with Exhaust

I doubt the claim of 100HP increase!!!
10 hours to install headers and exhaust does not seem out-of-line...
Get another install estimate...C&P CARS? MOPAC.(they have a dyno!)..

You would more likely be looking at a 40hp increase with the headers, which is still a good increase. Cat-back exhaust systems are more for tone and personal taste giving around 5 more hp.
Maybe the person you talked with on the phone forgot to mention the 75 shot of nitrous they would be adding to your car. :D

I know I don't have an LS2 but the Borlas sound great! As stated, it's a deeper tone where I find the Corsa has a higher tone from all the different ones I've heard....and I've only heard Corsa or Borlas.... It would be nice to hear more. The Borlas do drone but I don't find it unbearable. You just have to speak a little louder than normal.

Are headers are safe add on? Won't damage the motor, not affect me as a daily driver?

So the loudest exhaust, not worrying about drone etc, just something loud and obnoxious would be the bullets? Would that sound good with an Auto? Or is the PRT almost as loud and better for the Auto?

At this point I just want something stupid loud and if I hate it I'll take it off and but back the stock and figure something else out. If headers are a reliable add on and gain 40hp I may do that as well.

Or are the Borla Stingers?ATAK louder than the bullets with the muscle car sound?

 you have morphed a long way in a short time C604. I think we've almost reached the point where you can save a lot of money with a hacksaw and 2 pipe extensions. Cut off the mufflers, weld the extensions and the tips back on and after you get tired of the noise violation tickets and the neighbours cursing you, you can weld them back on. lol.... Sorry....I am only kidding.... I still wish you good luck and will be disappointed if you don't post a video with sound of your new system....

Lol, funny you should say that, I have watched quite a few videos and whenever I here straight pipes I am liked hmmmm, sounds amazing!

I was stopped at a red light one day when I heard this amazing sound, it was a C5 pulling up to the red light as well. I rolled my window down in awe and fell in love. After that I was behind him over the Port Mann Bridge on HWY 1 and he just took of and it was amazing. Since then I wanted an amazing exhaust. His was manual, and mines auto which I think will be better for a daily driver, but I still want somewhere near that stupid loud sound.

I am heading to the Okanagan this weekend, some guy had a Corsa muffler for sale, for $150, maybe I will just see if that adds any sound (not sure if it will since I don't know anything about exhausts and mufflers) and gets me by till I figure out what I am doing. It's pretty much embarrassing when people are like let's go for a ride and you start your car and it sounds pathetic, very anticlimactic.

I know what you mean C604. There is a bit of sound when you get your foot into the stock exhaust but idle sounds like my Rav4. $150 for a Corsa is a good price. And any of the Corsas are going to be a big improvement. Even if they are only the Corsa Touring, they are better sounding than stock. And it just gets better from there. Watch if it's a set off an LS3, they are a different part number but supposedly can be tweaked to fit at a muffler shop.

C604, I did a muffler delete on my 06 which is also an auto, and absolutely love it. Muffler delete is basically what rruuff day describes, straight pipes from the cats back with tips. It does drone a bit on the highway but nothing unbearable. Honestly when I first did it I thought my wife would hate the extra noise on the highway but I think she may like the sound more than me. It sounds fantastic at start up and idles like a sports car should, and screams when you have your foot in it. I often go to and from my house at less than ideal hours as I'm a shift worker and I have never had a neighbor complain about the noise of my car. Granted I am very cautious of how I drive in neighborhoods(and around police).

These are the pics he has up, doesn't know what type it is. Any clue if this is something decent? Louder than a NPP? 4 inch tips, not happy with dual tips but for $150 plus install I can deal.

Ok. For what my opinion is worth, any of the Corsa cans I'm familiar with, have ever seen and can find on their web site, are all quads. Even back into the C4's. It also looks like these are just the cans and tips. The minimum C6 Corsa I know of and have installed are at least Axle back systems. They connect in front of the axle to the X pipes. Your stock exhaust is each one piece from the X pipes right back and including the cans and tips. If it is just the cans, whatever these came off of, you will, at the very least be cutting off your stock cans and welding these on. IF..... they will even fit in the space.150 bucks is not a lot of money but if they don't fit/work you will be needing to find out what they fit to even try and sell them. This is what a Corsa Axle back for a C6 looks like. I removed this and swapped the stock exhaust back on when I sold the car. I dunno C604. Maybe someone else here has some insight on this ....

For your question on the headers, they are very safe to add. However, if you do headers and CAI, then it may require tuning to get the engine to run optimally.

I have the perfect solution for you. The best of both worlds.....

Get yourself a reasonable exhaust system like a MagnaFlow or as many on here have suggested, the Corsa Sport. Then when you are having it installed, have them add in an electric cutout. Then you can just toggle a switch inside the car to go from humane to insane.

Trust me, having a crazy loud exhaust system is only cool at car shows and race events. Any other time it is a pain in the ass.

Also to note - any time you change the way your engine moves air in and out, you should get it tuned.

Jeremaid, I have a question about this. As you say "anytime your engine moves air in and out, you should get a tune". That makes sense as it really is just a big air pump. So what happens when you, in this case electronically, open or close the exhaust to the way the motor is running? I had a Donzi with "Captains Call" that would open the exhaust straight out the transom and it sounded incredible. But what was it actually doing to the performance? I really don't know but I am thinking it might produce more sound but have the effect of less power?

That's exactly what I am looking for since I don't want to be crazy loud all the time I figure. I saw a story on Global two or three days ago about the cops cracking down on loud cars. My dad had the car and he put 900km's this weekend on the hwy and I am sure he would have killed me had he had a loud exhaust. I put on 450km's myself from the Okanagan to Van and hated it being that quiet so the switch would be awesome. I was sold on the Fusions right away but not sure if they will be loud enough.

What started me on this was last week I came across a google search where I saw "bullet's with switch" or something along those lines which I figured would be amazing as I don't think the NPP would be loud enough or the Fusion. So now I am thinking the PRT or better yet bullets (if they are good with an auto) with a switch if possible. I can't find that link again and I was thinking about it this morning before my drive to work to post that question or call B&B and ask.

So would it be possible to do the Bullets or Magnaflow if it's just as loud and add a switch for a reasonable amount?

Thank you for the suggestion Jeremiad, it totally makes sense and good to know it may be possible.

Excellent question, and to be honest, I don't really know for certain. Theoretically, it really should make more power when running through the cutout instead of the full exhaust as there is much less back pressure - Get it in, get it out = make it go. Reality though, is that the computer systems will likely expect some back pressure and when it doesn't see it, it might pull timing. AHEM, @Manny@Dasilva may have some real experience with this to confirm or deny. Without actually trying it both ways, I do not know for certain. In my personal opinion, I would expect that the shorter exhaust run of the cutout would most certainly result in more power.
