The joys of Windows........... privacy being eroded in real time . If you have encrypted cloud storage available such as available with Proton's various products or an external hard drive why give Microsoft , or Google for that matter, access to your personal photos and other data ? One Drive can safely be uninstalled . And IMHO should be. And Linux has become much more user friendly. Pretty solid alternative OS .

Windows 11 AND now Windows 10 have bitlocker enabled by default. Windows can occasionally for a variety of reasons ask you to enter your bitlocker key when you start your computer before it will load the operating system and allow you to get on the " desktop " . If you don't have the key , which is 48 characters long , you are locked out and can't access your files . Permanently. A fresh install would be required. It's highly recommended to find and copy the key. This explains how .
