Immobilizer

I wouldn't hold your breath. The court system is far too overloaded as is the prisons / jails. There will be cutbacks not extras coming.
I believe that the incoming government has already stated that these reforms will be one of their early priorities. Time will tell but I do think they will. In a number of jurisdictions stats show that 80 or so percent of charges laid are incurred by 10 or 15% of offenders. Some with 60 or more convictions on their record. Ridiculous when you think about it.

I agree with that. It is ridiculous, but I don't agree that PP will do anything like that. He's just spewing what he thinks people want to hear. You can't increase the deficit and decrease it at the same time. Now is not the time to increase the deficit. Adding services will do just that.

Perhaps, but changing the rules regarding “ bail for all “ wouldn’t cost a lot of money. That is if there is any left in the pot once the current government falls , lol . It appears that we don’t have long to wait. The Atlantic Liberal caucus , about an hour ago, have publicly called on Justine to resign. Problem is that the Liberal Party has no way to force him unlike the Conservatives could and have turfed the leader. Trudeau will I think , prorogue parliament and then we see how long before the next election is called.

You can change the law, but that won't help if there is no place to put the "waiting to be found guilty".
And it's not just that. The current laws are too easy on repeat offenders. But again where to put them?

Where to put them ? I have a suggestion or 2 but it wouldn’t be “ politically correct “ to make them …….

It's just not worth a car to kill someone or be killed.
Oh murray I totally agree ..... they can have the car ... I was kinda hinting to the very real possibility of some whack job coming into my house while my family is asleep ... Its already happened twice on my street in the last 2 years or so ... luckily no one was hurt or killed .

However ... Only those that are 100 % familiar with the use and are very comfortable with firearms should have them ... ;)

Just winding you up. Unfortunately it is against the law to whack a car thief. Lucky for him. I see it as a public service. No more cars stolen by him. Somehow I have to get him to threaten my life and then it is lock and load. To just sit on my hands and watch my car leave the yard would haunt me for years. Canadian law loads that situation in the thief's favour.

It's scary either way.

I get a laugh out of when people say buy replacement insurance or it's only a car. I have a 2006 Silverado that looks and drives like a two year old truck. I look after it! It was expensive to buy and at this stage of my life I will not be buying a new one. On December 15th two years ago in a busy parking lot at 2 in the afternoon there was an attempt to steal my truck. I had an immobilizer in it but even that was almost defeated. They didn't get my truck but did about $600 damage to the steering column. So the cops show up and first thing they say is what are you worried about? You have insurance don't you? I replied YOU'RE an idiot! How much do you think my insurance company is going to give me for a then 16 year old truck regardless of it's condition? To replace my truck with something similar will cost ME 15 to 20 thousand dollars on top of what my insurance gives me. Is that fair to me? If I catch anybody trying to steal any of my vehicles they will suffer the consequences and I'll worry about my legal issues later. Cops telling me to leave my keys near the front door is a joke. All this does is tell theives they have an open unrestricted invitation to steal your car. Our legal system does NOT protect you and until it changes I will defend my property and my life appropriately.

Is theft of the C8s common?
About #5 on the list of LEAST stolen cars in Canada actually. So all of this hand wringing is a bit of paranoia. Ask your insurance company about the stats perhaps.
The theft rate for the C8 Corvette is notably low, reported at less than 0.1%. This rarity is attributed to the car’s robust security features and the low demand for its used parts. However, thefts can occur, particularly when vehicles are left running or unlocked, as demonstrated in several incidents where thieves took advantage of these situations. Overall, while C8 Corvettes are highly sought after, they remain relatively safe from theft compared to other vehicles. Leave it running and unattended and you deserve to have it stolen, lol . Not to say it can’t happen but quite unlikely.
