Ok so there is a separate thread around exhausts and my recent Borla S Type purchase/install. I’ll keep that thread up to date on those details.

I learned just today that I originally had a stock exhaust, non “Z51” option … so while I was able to move over the AFM valves , there was no NPP actuator valves to move from old to new. SUPRISE! I had no control over exhaust volume/sound despite what my dash allowed me to change in Z or my mode .. it did nothing. I thought it did but my stock exhaust was so damn peaceful .. I guess it was hard to tell ;) lol (see other thread)

However my tech told me there appeared to be the wiring in place for the NPP valves … so good news?

I need 2 NPP actuator valves …. HELP ;)

I also learned that I might need the “Z51” RPO code in my ECM to make it all work. 💪🤷‍♂️

So I have a new scan tool enroute , as well as I’m about to send my ECM to be unlocked (HP Tuners) and between the two I should be able to add the Z51 RPO code (if required) … TBD

So the science part here is I might be able to crack the C8 non Z51 optioned cars to allow for NPP (exhaust volume control) when an after market exhaust is installed and supports AFM/NPP

Seems no-one has tried or cracked this one yet, despite many threads on the topic. I’m now that clown willing to attempt it for the greater good of all C8 owners.

Has anyone pulled a stock Z51 exhaust , and not reused their NPP valves, that is willing to send along to me for the science project? (I’ll pay shipping)

I could buy them, but yuck 🤢. I know there are exhausts sitting out there with the valves attached, that are not being used …

Let me know … and thanks !

And yes .. I need help, serious professional help 🤪

Borla were willing to allow me to send back the whole exhaust, and send me the one without NPP valves ... GREAT Support ! However the logistics of that and cost would be through the roof.

They recommended (as stated above) to just tack weld the NPP valves in the exhaust FULL OPEN, and problem resolved 100%.
I just got done taking the bumper off and exhaust apart and one of my best friends who owns a welding shop is fixing me up tomorrow morning first thing. Be back on the road by noon ;)

Go on marketplace and buy an entire Z51 take off exhaust. There are tons for sale near me for as low as $200 with all actuators intact.

Isn’t the car much more enjoyable to drive, now? Mine is going in on Monday. Super stoked.
It now sounds like a fire breathing, exotic, sexy AF, beefy, proper …. V8 Corvette !!

Game changer. I’ll be posting videos tomorrow , as it really really does change this car into what it should have been from the factory.
