Just wondering if anyone has had an immobilizer installed on their c8 or z06 recently. Which one do you recommend, and what did it cost installed?
Any suggestions for a place in Markham/Richmond hill?

If your willing to drive to Mississauga ... I have had some experience with Audio Automotion ... although it was a few years back ... great people and service ... They are on Haines Rd . In the Cawthra and Queensway area
They work on alot of high end vehicles . Give them a shout and see if they offer the services your looking for ... ;)

I am having my installed at the dealership. They said that it is factory approved fwiw or for what it means? It is not cheap but I have no idea what's the cost of an aftermarket ones either?
I don't know know how well it works until I get possession in spring

What one is it?
How much?
What is involved?

It was around $2000. Not sure of the brand? It has tracking as well. Separate key fob to activate your your ignition only on start up. Installed at the Dealership or subcontract? They said GM approved fwiw? It will be installed when I pick up my car in March. I can find more details when I drop in there in the new year.

I read some people are using the Soler Throttle Controller as an anti-theft device. You can disable the throttle via the app. There are also factory settings for the controller itself so throttle response doesn't have to feel any different if you don't want it to.
Soler controller
I lot cheaper than $2k and looks easy enough to install.

Does it not just plug in to the OBDII connector?

Just a thought but how about this as an option ? Simple self install and you can buy 26 of them for the dealer price.

So it's easy to disable.
Not so easy if you don't know what to look for. Keep in mind the engine would be running before the thief realizes something is wrong. Can't see them diving under the dash looking for wiring harnesses to unplug and replug while the owner is looking for the shotgun.

Its unfortunate .... but in todays world at least 1 firearm should be easily accessible while at home ... ;)

They know what to look for. That's the problem.

It's just not worth a car to kill someone or be killed.
Just winding you up. Unfortunately it is against the law to whack a car thief. Lucky for him. I see it as a public service. No more cars stolen by him. Somehow I have to get him to threaten my life and then it is lock and load. To just sit on my hands and watch my car leave the yard would haunt me for years. Canadian law loads that situation in the thief's favour.

Yes, they do, but the reasons are understandable, while not necessarily the best ones. Loss of possessions is covered by insurance. I think you'd be haunted a lot longer if you killed someone. I have known others who have and they were haunted. Only the thief wins. There is a saying in law. I paraphrase, but it's better to let 10 guilty go free than to convict one innocent.
Far too many obviously guilty are let out on bail. There is a lot of work to be done in that area.

We should soon see that work being done. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't hold your breath. The court system is far too overloaded as is the prisons / jails. There will be cutbacks not extras coming.
