GM Price Protection Experiences

You are my hero. I feel so much more confident all will work out now!! Cheers and thanks!!

So, ceo2b, did you find out anymore about what actual price protection you will be receiving? Keep us posted as to whether or not it works out satisfactorily for you.

Here is where I stand.

1. I went in on Friday and the manager I spoke too in November was not in.
2. Salesperson said that "we will pass on and PP that GM offers to you"
That is a significant change from what they have been saying.
3. I asked specifically if the people that got their order placed in March and delivered in April are satisfied (no issues). He responded yes.
4. I had him do a print out of my file and the code 1100 only starts in July 2014 as a 2015 model. No reference to 2014 at all. No answer as to why.
5. No one can tell them why the car sat at BG for 3 and 1/2 weeks before moving to Teledo. ETA is 2 more weeks.
6. Will have invoice later this week so will be able to apply for PP next week before car comes.

So I have a very uneasy feeling. I have no issues eating the cost difference from 2014 to 2015 of about $2300 but I'm not so sure about the other 6k or 7k.

I face 2 issues.
If I do not get PP I would have waited even longer and had them swap my allocation for someone down the list and got a 2016
I trusted the process so I traded in 2 vehicles (the C7) is fully paid for as of Aug 2014. I cannot untrade them and possibly wait, go to another dealer, or buy something else.

After all the comments it is clear the Z51 C7 is an amazing car and after a long chat with my brother he said, life is too short to worry about all this (there is little you can do) so raise a bit of a stink, and if you have too, pay the extra and just love the car. Learn and do things differently next time. Even at 80k the car is unlike anything out there and my only other option is a BMW M4 which is closer to 90k and is not as unique as the C7.

I think you cant not have same order number for 2014 and 2015 car. It why your pp is for 2015 intro price. Remember i think 2015 intro price is same as final price of 2014( yes about 2k more than intro 2014 price). After only one month the 2015 price raise about 1k just enough time to place order of unproduced 2014. Owais can say if im correct.

So take your car and enjoy!

Since I am in Langley, I have been at Preston's for my 500 mile change ( too far to go to Dueck ). It was a good experience. FYI - one of the many times I was at Dueck during my wait, I asked someone in srvc if they use Mobil 1 oil instead of Dexos. He said no since Dexos is the minimum reccomended oil. Another srvc man overheard and said all corvettes get Mobil 1. I then asked the Srvc Manager who promptly said they don't unless you request it and pay an up-charge over the price of the Dexos. I really was having a lot of trouble getting a straight answer from anyone on this subject. Sounds like they took care of you well though. At Preston's, they too asked me to pay the difference to get fully synthetic ( $60.00 ) - I used the newest Castrol Synthetic. As far as the lie, it is a long story but I was able to prove through talking with key sales and management staff at another dealer that " no dealer in North America " wouldn't have known that there were no more allocations for a Z51 at that time. I later also found out they just held my name during the first 6 months in limbo and when it was time to send in the orders for the 2015's to the factory, they quickly put my name first on the list ( the salesman told me so ). I later found out that all people in NA who ordered a 2014 and didn't get one would get the first of the August builds " IF " they were first on that Dealers List. Wow, long story, sorry but that is what happened in a nutshell.

All Z51 and Z06 get Mobile 1 as per what My service Manger told me.
My Z51 got Mobile 1 as per the GM Requirement with no extra charge.
The base model doesn't even get a oil change till 7k or 20 percent oil quality left.

Hey guys, does anyone have a pdf or link to somewhere that shows the original MSRP of the 2015 C7 Z51 coupe in July or Aug of 2014. All the paperwork I have is from later in the year when some increases already happened.

GM Canada has gotten involved and seems very happy to help me out. The more info I can provide the better. So far they can only help me out in regards to 2015 price protection. Nothing from 2014 to 2015 as they only have an order # from July 2014 on the 2015 model.

Z51 price in 2014 have more than 2k raise

In Jan 2014 a 2014 Z51 coupe (1YX07) was MSRP at $56,520 (I have a quote from the dealer) and Exhaust was $1,255 for a total of $57,775

In Sept of 2014 they released the 2015 Z51 for $62,695. I show a difference of $4,920 increase. Am I missing anything?

Looks like I will be out this amount if GM protects me from order # to now.

The GM price guarantee program with respect to people that never received their 2014 build stated exactly what one could get, and for the most part, this was the result of all the Z51's that never got delivered. Owais would easily be able to tell you that amount. It was spoken of here as well on this site.

Did you ever get proof that an order was placed in 2014 for a 2014 car? Without that, this is nothing more than anothe rvery unfortunate circumstance that mimics so many in Canada and the US.

Like I said
New order number new price.
You will not get 2014 pricing on a 2015.
On your order bench sheet for your 2015 will be a price that is what your paying with some addons like taxes pdi and paper work.

So latest update - better than expected.

1. Car is finally in Vancouver at rail yards and is expected at dealer any day now. (Production date was April 9th) so its been a long wait.
2. Price protection worked out - I waited for dealer to work out a number and had all my ducks in a row with GM Canada to dispute if necessary. Here is final outcome.

Final GM MSRP price for car was $81,015 including $1,800 for PDI/Freight and $11,970 of options. As a result MSRP for 2015 Z51 Coupe was $67,245.00 at invoice date/pick up. Original MSRP for 2014 Z51 Coupe at time of deposit in Jan 2014 was $56,520.00 plus $1,255 for exhaust. ($57,775 total) Leaving a difference of $9,470.00. Dealership did all the paperwork and reduced MSRP by $7,455.00 (from $81,015 to $73,650). Not exactly sure how they came to that number, but I am out only $2.105 for true PP.

Considering that many Vancouver dealerships are not passing on PP and that I do not have a 2014 order number, this I think is an amazingly good outcome and I am really happy.

I am looking forward to getting my car in the next day or so and then taking it to get Xpel Ulimate wrapped.

Best wishes and happy summer drives to everyone for their input and advice.

Just got home from dealer and finalized all pricing prior to car arriving (hopefully next week) and all price protection promises in place as well as GM loyalty credit of $1,500.00
Already been through the business office, so don't really have to deal with the BS later on. This should shorten the day of delivery a lot. Tech in the back said PDI process not much more then 3 hours.
It's coming together and I hope it continues to flow smoothly. :Hurray:

Great news, best wishes.

It's great you got price protection. I'm not so lucky. I put down a deposit August 5,2014 with a dealer in north surrey for a base C7,ZF1,auto,nav,NPP,Laguna blue, jet black. Got an order number same day,it is in the system as retail sold under my name at 1100. Told it would be three to six months. Price came out in October at 72200 Every time I asked for an update on the order I reminder them about price protection. They agreed I would get it.price went up to 74380 March 1. Car built April 10, arrived in Vancouver May 14 with a window sticker of 74380. Price is currently 76380

Told no price protection as GM already gave a discount from the current price to the price on the window sticker. Had to get gm customer service involved as the sales manager thinks the discount will come from his profit and not from GM. Not a good buying experience.

You truly wonder about these people who run the dealerships are the uninformed or trying to take anyone they can for a ride?

It is true he won't get the profit on the Price Protection portion, but what is that on the $2,100 increase in price? Maybe $200 in the end?

2ndVette you are being given the runaround through a dealership that hasnt the proper information. Ask for a 3 way conversation with the GM District Manager who will be familiar with the process.

My salesman and the sales manger stood behind my deal as promised on every aspect. My order was originally written up on August 23/14, I even changed it slightly in November. Still price protected.
It couldn't have gone any smoother. Must be the reason they were #1 in Canada (for 2014) for being highest volume dealer by the number of delivered units. Any deal at 1100 should be protected from that day forward regardless of window sticker. My dealer told me today the window sticker will show a much higher price then what I will pay. I was never really worried or concerned. 1st class experience.
They seem more excited to see my C7 than I do.

81Wayne when my 14 arrived, there had been 1 price increase ($2000.00) but my window sticker showed my original
price that I'd order the car at.......

Talked to GM customer service about not getting price protection. They didn't get anywhere with the dealer, they said there is nothing that they can do to make a dealer give price protection. Went back to the dealer and asked the sales manager for a three way call with the western Canada sales rep to find out why I was denied price protection, like AllFlash suggested. The sales manager tells me he never tried to get price protection because he didn't call the western sales rep when my car arrived. He said price protection starts at 2000 not 1100. The sales manager then told me the public is not allowed to talk to the sales rep so that's not going to happen. I begged him to call the Western sales rep and just ask him if I'm price protected. He called and left a message, now just waiting to hear what the western sales manager has to say.
Not holding out much hope this will end good.

This is a very inept organization. Mine was ordered in Jan 2015 and there were a couple of price increases prior to my delivery in late April. I was told that I'm pp by the general manager and indeed I was with no fuss at the time of delivery. He nonchalantly crossed out the mrsp and referred back to the old contract price for the final cost. This should be the same for you and for everyone else who had ordered one and received a code 1100. Why can't these people get their act together and stop bs valuable customer. Btw, in the end it'll be worth it. This car is unbelievably composed and so enjoyable to drive.
