Gary's C6 Z06-back on the dyno-744 rwhp!

Manny, the love and care you guys put into each build you do is blindingly evident! Fantastic build!

I hope you can make it through Saskatoon on you way back Garry so we can see our second Dasilva car...and maybe get my first ride in a Dasilva car. Some day I hope to proudly display a Dasilva car as well!

Everyone should be very proud of this car and the work that went into it.

I have to add that it doesn't matter if your project is big or small, Manny and his people give 110% (or more) every time. :seeya:

nice job dasilva motorsports! and garry as you have expierienced with all that has gone on in your life, nothing ventured nothing gained. i took a friend from work for a ride in my 05 ragtop about 1.5 yrs ago. he loved it so much, he has sold his harley and his 67 nova and found himself a z06 victory red! he can't wit for the snow to go now. i bet you can't wait for the snow to go either. enjoy the new found power garry

Good morning,

Being aware of the outcome now and the delay gives me some time to think about the dangers of being careless and how to go about responsibly driving this car post-mod. I tell everyone around me here that I am living the dream life as everything is going so well for me now. I am so very thankful for my life and everything that is in it and that has happened to me. Even things like the cancer and divorce are responsible for shaping me into the person that I am at this moment and while I hope that I was a decent person back then, I know that I am a much better person today as a result. It clearly is true that what doesn't crush or destroy you does end up making you stronger.

Yes, I am starting to look at longer range weather forecasts and even now when it gets nice and the roads are dry I think to myself "you know I could drive the Z06 on a day like this....." and then I see all the snow still in the fields and ditches and I just tell myself that I have to be patient a bit yet and to cool my heels for a few more weeks.

But keep me informed of the weather in that area (those who live there) and as I mentioned earlier maybe I need to break out some AirMiles and come down for 2 ot three days beforehand for a first encounter and to have some fellowship.

Cheers,

Garry

haha, good to hear Garry -- we hope all aspects are going well at this time.
The weather is breaking now -- even Wayne is 'outing' his car soon and suggests the temps are rising now for an early spring.....yahoo!

We're all lookin' forward to your visit -- it shouldn't be too long now.

I may be look the neighbourhood in the next little while so I'll look in on the 'yellow beast' and post more pics forthwith....:D

That all sounds great Colin. Outside of wishing I was in Wayne's (driving) shoes.

More pictures always welcome........

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Wayne,

I don't need to wait for the weekend. It is 15 here right now, just minus 15! And the north wind at about 25 km/hr so not so nice.

We are really lucky as a group of car owners to have the rides we do. I almost feel like Rolls Royce were each day at lunch apparently one employee is given a ride in the car so they can see the quality of the work they do at the assembly line. I wish everyone could have a car like this in their life at some point to have the experience we get.

I am feeling unusually reflective right now in the life I have.

Cheers,

Garry

Garry congrats on this true HOT car!! I Cant wait to see some videos of your ride when you get remarried with it. Helluva head turner,, literally

You could meet Garry and see his car in person if you wish, 4ryanr -- Garry is coming to get his car come spring -- stay tuned for details......:D

Good evening 4ryanr,

It is an exciting time in my life for sure. The decision to go with the mods, Manny patiently walking me through it, the dedication of his staff to fulfilling a customer's dream!

I've purchased a camera mount for the car and one for my helmet to be able to take some videos. I have to the video camera's next.

Since you are, like Colin, local to the area, you may be able to attend the reunion! At some point I will be coming down to get the car and maybe even before that depending on how my spring goes and the weather there. But I will be posting on the forum when my plans are in place as I want the chance to meet as many of you as I can.

My bank account would not survive a 2nd winter there so I don't expect this is something I'll be repeating in the near future!

It will be such an experience to be able to see as many of the member's cars as well. A dream come true for me..........

Cheers,

Garry

Mentioned earlier was driving lessons/school..........

Anyone have recommendations for this anywhere in Alberta?

Garry, the car sounds truly beastly. Love that everything "looks" stock too--crazy to think what 744 rwhp will feel like! I'm not sure if I even had that much machismo driving the Ferrari a few weeks ago! You've pretty much gotten a whole new car, LOL!

Looking forward to seeind and hearing this machine more in the future.

On a side note, this is the last year that Stratotech track will be open in Edmonton--you should try it while it's available. The owners a building a MASSIVE facility in Palm Springs now--supposed to be a pretty impressive place when it's finished.

Cheers,

Vince.

That car is going to be a beast, but you are in control. As Chuck told me when I first drove after the SC install..."make sure its pointed dead straight if you plan to floor it". Be extra carefull in cold temps. Not only is traction worse, but the car makes maximum power.
Be safe, and enjoy her.

My 2 cents are to take multiple driving schools, don't let pressure to show off make you drive crazy in public, and mainly now that you have 'tire limited acceleration' I would highly recommend keeping traction control somewhere functional on the streets - they're designed to keep the car, if not tires, together.

I'm jealous!

Gimli Manitoba thru Winnipeg Sports Car Club offers a licensing program, Edmonton/Stratotech will have events all summer, Castrol is sponsoring a new track in Edmonton too which should be finishing at the end of the summer... otherwise Vancouver, Washington, and Minnesota have road tracks.

I plan on going to Brainerd, Minnesota in September with the Minnesota Corvette Club.

Lower UTQG ratings imply stickier tires but that won't last as long if you didn't know.

Good afternoon,

Yes, I remember when I was test driving the car the salesman was showing me all the features and pointed out the traction and stability control. His advice, leave it on all the time, which I've followed so far. I tried it switched fully off once and that was a good enough experience that I don't need to repeat.

My advice for friends that have driven it as well was if the car is not pointing in the direction you want it to be going don't floor it. It was true stock and is moreso now I'd be thinking.

The track at Edmonton does look interesting and not something I was ever aware of/had heard of. So if I ever get to thinking about the need for a road trip I'll have to check the schedule to see what is going on at that time.

I am lucky that I have such a long time between when the car is ready and when I'll get it. It gives me a chance to think about and get my head wrapped around just what I'm going to be getting myself in to. My hope is that having been damn lucky enough to have survived cancer I'm not going to kill myself by being careless/stupid with this car! Which after all was my reward for no longer having cancer, right??!!

Cheers,

Garry

Thanks for the suggestions.

Garry,
re tracks/training

if you want to dream in technicolour..........Ron Fellows has a school just
outside Vagas. According to reports from many participants the school and
lodgings are just fabulous. GM pays for US buyers of the ZR-1 to attend the
first 2 days of the 3 day course. [ think its ~ $3000/ 3 days ?? ]

Tony,
