First snow of winter 2013 arrives

It snowed here this morning. And while it may be the swan song as there is no above zero forecast for this week it is at least teh way I like to see winter arrive.

Sometimes it will be +10 on one day and -10 with 20 cm of snow the next. The snow insulates the ground which results in the snow melting and the roads and yards getting rutted up and everything muddy.

We had very little snow when it snowed a week ago, maybe like 1 cm, it did melt as the ground was so warm but then the temperature dropped. The ground was actually able to loos heat and freeze so the snow this morning is staying as snow! Thus no ruts!!

If there can be a good start to snow being here for the next 5 months this is how it happens for me.

Nervous to get the car tomorrow from the dealer tomorrow and to move it to the garage for storage........

Cheers,

Garry

Well, 4 or 5 hours to go until I get the car. It is -13 right now (!) and so I'd better think about getting the car into storage as there is a 40% chance of flurries tomorrow. I;d hoped for a day or two fo driving it yet but it doesn't look like the case.

What a way to turn 49....................

But then again being alive still is a pretty sweet present still considering my past.

Cheers,

Garry

Happy Birthday Garry. :D Your only 17 months older than me. Glad to hear your car is fixed and coming home. Shame about the weather though.

Thanks Wayne!

Pha! You're still just a mere stripling of a lad there too!

Twins eh? I'd take that as a compliment.

Cheers,

Garry

Happy Birthday Garry!!!!! Best of luck braving this weather with the car! Would a good birthday present be a flat bed tow from the shop to your house? Not sure what the road conditions are there, but they are devastatingly slippery here! Lots of rain yesterday that turned into snow while the temp went to -10. I think winter is here to stay!

Gentlemen,

Just back. Something odd about driving the car with the trees covered in hore frost!!

Drove off without the keys - made me glad for the 1st time I spent the close to $300 for the 2nd FOB and had it programmed this summer. Never needed it before this but glad I have it now. Even luckier, for some odd reason, I checked for me key before I got out in Grimshaw to get my mail....no key...........didn't shut the car off thankfully and so I even made it home.

Now still deciding what to do with the car, take it to store it late this afternoon at my other house or do it tomorrow when I got swimming with my son and his class - risking the 40% chance of flurries.

No worries, I'll take colder temps right now to not have to cut my grass!!

Ya, 49, well maybe getting the car back is like my b'day present.

The price, well you'll have to go to the other thread for that...........

Cheers,

Garry

I think when it snows in Parry Sound, the salt trucks come out in force in Omemee. Can`t be too careful you know. There was a bead of the white stuff down the centre of the road through the village this morning. I guess the cruising season is definitely over for us. I have a couple of minor things to do with the car so, now I can get at it. :(

Snow sticking on the ground in Haliburton today, the roads are very icy. No salt trucks yet and strangely the snow tires for the F150 are still sitting in the garage. I have to get with it and soon!!

Drive with care guys.

Sad news Brian, are Tony, Jim and I the only ones left?

Nope! Weather forecasting a warm-up by the end of the week and hoping to go for a ride.:D Not taking the insurance off until I'm forced to with road salt.
