Computer Science is a good discipline too. My nephew bailed in his first year engineering as well. Engineering Statics and the Calculus are killers first year. He went to Instrumentation Engineering Technology instead. Has worked a week in/week out north of Fort Mac. now for 10 years and makes double what an Engineer in Red Deer earns.... lol....Hey man, get my son a job working in Nuclear. Lol... I live between Darlington and Pickering... hoping there's no meltdown. Lol
So do I...south Ajax. We will be fine.
Well mine will be over $120 and living here in BC I will be paying tax. Last vette - my 5th so decided to load up my HTC. Money no good to you until you spend it - LOL. Enjoy your car. After 6 months of waiting , I got the call with the last allocation from my dealer(Durham region) last week ( dealer says there are 10 guys in line behind me). The order went in today.
I might even see it early summer.
Corvette 2lt, convertible , GT2 seats, Natural interior, Perform exhaust. Paid MSRP.
I kept it under $94k as I`m worried that Feds will keep their promise to charge a `luxury tax` of 10% on cars over $100k this March. We`ll see.
We could also see a speculation price increase of $5k- $10k for 2021. GM has kept the 2020 model year short. as to justify a price increase for the 2021.
I`ll take a early 2021 for the 2020 price. If not, I`ll walk away . That was the deal.
Yup no fun driving a Brinks truck !Well mine will be over $120 and living here in BC I will be paying tax. Last vette - my 5th so decided to load up my HTC. Money no good to you until you spend it - LOL. Enjoy your car.
Tell my wife that. Good luck with that - LOL.Yup no fun driving a Brinks truck !
The feds are introducing a new luxury tax on January 1st 2022 10% on top of GST on vehicles over 100k so 25% tax in BCSo what exactly is the BC tax rate, GST and PST, if the car exceeds 100k? I was assuming it's taxed at 15% total.
The PST Bulletin that the BC Gov released said anything between $57, 000 - $124, 999 get's 10% PST. Plus the 5% GST.
That sounds about right. So what exactly is the BC tax rate, GST and PST, if the car exceeds 100k? I was assuming it's taxed at 15% total.

I think my car (2022) should be around $120K - pricing not out yet: HTC, 2LT with GT2 seat upgrade, Z51 pkg., MRC FE4, carbon fiber interior trim, front lift system, rapid blue, upgraded wheels to the trident, side runners, low profile spoiler with front splitter (n/c with Z51 pkg.?) I think I got it all?The new Federal vehicle tax that is effective 2022, is 10% of the value of any vehicle that costs over $100,000.00 OR 20% of the sale price in excess of $100,000.00, whichever is the lower amount. So with your example, that works out to $15,000.00 (10% of $150,000.00) or $10,000.00 (20% of $50,000.00) respectively, which means it's the lower $10,000.00 amount.
Then looking at the BC tax introduced April 1, 2018 (as a lucky far-less-taxed Albertan, you have my utmost sympathy) it's a 15% tax for any vehicle sold between $125,000.00 and $149,999.99 or 20% for any vehicle sold for $150,000.00 and up. I'd think you could sweet-talk your dealer into reducing your price by a buck to total $149,999.99 and save the 5%. But if not, then it's 20% of $150,000.00 or $30,000.00.
So using your number of $150,000.00, that would add up at most to $40,000.00 extra tax ($10,000.00 + $30,000.00) making your total cost $190,000.00. Still, a very big "ouch!" as you say compared to Alberta's vehicle "tax" of regular gst @ 5%, plus the new Federal tax; so at most $17,500.00 extra tax or $167,500.00 in total for the same vehicle.
We'll see if all this puts a damper on high-end vehicle sales, especially in BC.
Instead of being Liberal with your car they have forced you to become more Conservative !Guess I'm going to slowly remove some options and get it under 100k lol... some of them might not even be ready. I heard a lot of people in the US were struggling to get the high wing in time, or the carbon flash trident wheels. No point in paying a dumb amount in tax money for something I won't even get with my car (or worse, no benefit since ordering those wheels just gets me two sets of wheels...)
