My rant for the day. (or at least for the morning)
So. Tankers are now arriving regularly in Saint John delivering LNG from ...get this... Australia. A short 25,000 km voyage because our own 1,368 trillion cubic foot supply (roughly a 300 year supply), can't reach the eastern half of the country. LNG to heat the entire East for less than 1/4 the cost of heating oil. Let alone not counting the huge economic windfall for Canada being able to sell and ship LNG from Atlantic ports to a plethora of other Countries.
The cost of a tanker travelling from Australia to New Brunswick is about $13,500,000 plus the LNG purchase these days.
Yup.... we are buying natural gas from Australia or Qatar when we have our own.
That's like planting a nice vegetable garden in your yard and then being forced to buy your cost inflated vegetables from Sobeys because you can't get your own into the house.
And why is that?....Oh! Someone is blocking your vegetables from the trip across the yard because they don't actually give two $hits about you as their neighbour. Downright sad what we seem to have to put up with sometimes...
